Well, As a SysAdmin working at a small company, let me just say that Windows is more and more becoming a no-option for us. A small company like ours needs to be versatile and be able to adapt to a change very quickly, and in this case Windows is more of a stumbling block than a solution.
We're moving to Linux on the server side and we're seriously considering non-Microsoft offerings, such as Novell, for our office. Windows 2000 is a serious crap. The only decent release is Windows 2003 but its just too costly.
And look at you! for pete's sake. Trashing people like that so easily to make your point. What makes you any better ? Is your beloved OSX really _that_ great ?
Oh yeah, I do admire and respect RMS and Linus. Why ? Because of all their hard work which I, and many others, benefit from. They earned my respect. The system they helped built earned my respect.
No need for ads, computer-case-clad G4 bimbos and all those marketing crap.
This clearly shows that the US does not really care about the freedom of the people of Peru. All you guys care about is money.
Did you really punish Microsoft for being a monopoly ?? Don't give me that software donation bullshits. You have no balls to do anything to hurt Microsoft because that corporation dictates everything in your market economy.
Monmouth Mall, Eatontown, NJ:
Suncoast video store on the 2nd floor has quite a collection of anime videos + dvds (a lot of subs too).
Virgin record, 14th street Union Square, NYC: Lots and lots of anime DVDs (check the basement). A very nice place to shop:o)
HMV,5th Ave.(and 46th street ?), NYC: A lot of anime DVDs. Some anime videos.
Suncoast video, 42nd street (and 3rd ave ?), NYC: Some anime DVDs and videos. Videos are mostly dubbed.
Video game stores, everywhere. Sometimes they carry anime dvds and videos.
I would not recommend Japanese bookstores such as Kinokuniya or Asahiya for videos/dvds. They do carry a couple mainstream ones, usually Miyazaki's stuff like Totoro, but other than those they have none. I would recommend those bookstores if you're looking for Manga or Anime CD soundtracks, but not dvds or videos.
Lastly, I know a couple of places in NYC Chinatown that carry pirated Anime dvds (lots and lots of them) but I'm not going to list them here. Trust me, for Anime, don't buy pirated ones. When you watch anime, one of the things that you definetely enjoy is the quality of the animation. Stick to the originals!
first of all, the GPLed code is NOT YOURS to begin with. It is owned by the author. If the author releases his/her code under the GPL it is their choice, and YOU, who dont even own the code, _should not_ even think of tampering with it unless you agree to be bound by the GPL.
Stop whining and write _YOUR OWN CODE_ if you dont like the GPL. Its simple.
then write your code under proprietary license if you so insisted. why even bother with GPL or even BSD style license ? If you want feedback, go and release 'beta' versions of your software.
I think you dont get the point of writing something under the GPL. GPL is the license where you GIVE freedom to others to improve your code with GUARANTEED REPETITIONS. It makes sure that those who took and improve your code HAVE to give the freedom that you give to them. If you dont care about that in particular then go BSD style license. GPL never takes any rights, because the developers are _willing_ to give them the moment they GPL the code. Nobody is forcing you to write GPLed code.
Last year I heard a comment from friend of mine, a game artist/illustrator who lives in Tokyo. We were talking about Manga and Anime stuff and I told her I enjoy playing games made by SquareSoft, especially the Final Fantasy line. She surprised me by saying that she personally dislike SquareSoft. That really got me because to me Square made pretty good games, and I asked her why. She said that Square used to "steal" artists from smaller companies to work for them with promises of higher payments and treated them like used scraps when the products finally shipped. So basically she likes games made by Square but not Square as a company..
one of the reasons why Apple/Mac never gain wide acceptance as a desktop computing platform. Why do they have to see it like "Oh they're copying our desktop appearance! Lets stop them right away!".. instead of "Oh look they're using our themes" and be proud of it, or even encourage it.
IMO Apple could gain popularity if other platforms' OSes use their themes. Besides they have nothing to lose. If this act is true then its a real shame. It shows that themes/look-&-feel matter the most to Apple and are the best feature of the OS. (But hey! maybe they ARE the best feature, the rest are just crappy).

I think RPM as a package manager is useful enough for the average user. But its a big headache to resolve package conflicts and dependencies. Everyone that uses RPM knows that, and sometimes you just have to download/install packages that you dont really want to upgrade to resolve those deps.
Another thing that you probably want to do, if you use RPM, is to have backups of those package/deps/provides,etc database files. Just in case. Couple days ago I upgraded rpm from version 3 to 4 and bombed those db files. All files in the provide list were gone and i couldn't install any without doing --nodeps.
ive finished Bebop (Japanese DVDs) sometime ago. i have to say that its great. to me its the best anime in terms of art, music and style. i have no doubt that you will enjoy it til the last episode. from the 4th DVD you'll start to get a glimpse of each character's background; and the way they show them to you is unique because there is no exact explanation, only pictures, flashbacks, etc. the most interesting one is Faye's. you'll see..:)
yabai and aho ? That's "oh shit!" and "idiot".

.hack//sign. It's an interesting anime about online game and how it relates to real life.
If you like Japanese animation or anime, check out

Your OS rhymes with that word closer than Linux.
