Her writing wasn't crap but instead of comparing it to your favorite novel compare it Plato's Republic, or Thomas Moore's Utopia or Hobbes' Leviathan. It's intended to entertain but it's also a philosophical treatise. Or, better put, it's a philosophical treatise wrapped in more digestible form than say Lockes Second Treatise of Government.
When humans were here? You mean through Ice Ages (and the intervening periods of global warming)? Coast lines have changed a lot in the last 2.5 million years. (Not to mention the 24 or so Ice Ages).
Some are pretending that Global Warming == a human extinction level event. This is chicken little type thinking. (See previous post - we as a species, plus mammalian plus insects, plants,.... existed quite well with levels of CO2 far higher than today.
Again, this is not me saying I'm in favor of polluting or burning fossil fuels but the chicken little sh!t is hurting your cause.
Ayn Rand argued in favor of those who produce. She argued that wealth is not a zero-sum game (such as the poker analogy); that wealth is created. And, if it is created, we ought to respect the creators of said wealth.
The creators are more valuable to society than the redistributors - especially if the distributors end up shackling or killing the creators.
1. We have fairly accurate data points going back hundreds of thousands of years, nay millions of year.
2. We know that mammalian life has been around for 80+ million years (120+ if you could proto-mammalian life).
3. We know that temperature has risen and fallen; CO2 levels risen and fallen, and coastlines have changed many times over the past 80 million years (hell last 80,000 years)
Does this mean we should pollute? F**K no.
Does this mean that burning fossil fuels is fine; and not caring about adding CO2 is also fine. Again. F**K NO.
But the chicken little approach combined with send-all-power-to-a-central-world-government seems just a little bit suspect to me. As a matter of fact, it's more than a little suspect. It too is in the real of F**K NO.
Take a look at a chart of solar power costs and you'll see that it's an exponential chart. You may see that it's "only" 5% now. But it was at 0% in 1970 and energy use has gone up.
PR should become a state or become an independent country. There shouldn't be any middle ground. However I know many, many PRicans who do want the middle way. They want it to remain as it is. "This is what was agreed to 100 years ago - and we ought to stick with it."
I don't think the laws would allow citizens to break down doors to find the correct room. The laws are there so that you can protect yourself in the event of imminent danger. The Colt was called "the great equalizer" because 120 pound women could use it to defend themselves against 240 pound men.
Whatever he is - he doesn't know what he's talking about. I doubt he would know how to load a bolt action rifle; or if he can identify the difference between a bolt action and a semi-automatic without googling it first..
I'm an evil landlord and I've had tenants call because they couldn't change the light bulb in the ceiling, or flip their circuit breakers (they were scared of getting electrocuted), or relight the pilot on their gas stoves.
What was the federal gov't providing in 1945 compared to 2015? Much less.
No medicare. No lots of things. Not to mention that at that time the Federal Government had not taken over so many state functions - example interstate roads.
Not to mention the fact that he is going to lose the meme war big time. He's taking on reddit and 4chan. ha ha ha ha
Pepe is a subversive meme used by people who getting an anti-authoritarian, anti-SJW as well (but to a far less degree) by the racist Alt-Right.
Legal action against pepe is only going to make it stronger - like the Streisand Affect on steroids.
If Matt Furie thinks this will stop the use of Pepe he's a fool. If he's doing this to separate himself from Kekistanis others who have adopted Pepe then... whatever. No one will link the two,
We need to keep understanding how people use (and expect to use systems). Nothing has changed. Do you want to change the name from Information Architecture to UX Design. Whatever (even though I think Information Architecture) is more descriptive and ought not be reserved for HCI (Human Computer Interaction) or for people doing Environmental Psychology.
What is the f**king use case that is better covered by "respectful" as opposed to "user-centric." I actually think that user centric is, in today's word, fairly close to an irrelevant qualifier. Who else is one doing design for? To enhance the prestige and psychic well-being of department heads and CEOs?
ooops. better not mention that else we'll have a new discipline called CEO Design.
Agreed. If a pedestrian crosses against the light then he is liable. Plain and simple.

Complete non sequitur.

You mean Hillary? The one who could be bribed; had no problem selling US Uranium mines to Russia?
Yeah keep digging muthafuka. It's idiots like you who are turning a NeverTrumper like me into disliking you more than Trump.

I hope you don't believe the bullsh!t you spew.
For your sake I hope you're a teenage troll.

I stand corrected. That's so true, I was limiting my "good guy" to bystanders.
Bystanders at the concert cannot take out a machine gun 300 yards away and 30 floors high with a handgun.
Do we know yet what he was using?
Of course dipsh!t Hillary is talking about "silencers". It's crazy how willfully ignorant people are.
1970s journalism is not 21st Century advocacy journalism.
... isn't anymore.
What was
No. You're not an ignorant bigot now are you?

what I heard was that they scuffled and while they were wrestling around he was shot in the abdomen,
A good guy with a gun is valid in some circumstances. Not this one.
Case in point is when a Sudanese immigrant shoots up a church in Tennessee and the usher goes to his car and gets his handgun.
Whatever he is - he doesn't know what he's talking about. I doubt he would know how to load a bolt action rifle; or if he can identify the difference between a bolt action and a semi-automatic without googling it first..
Bernie Sanders anyone?
Michael Moore?

A lot of WTF moments including one this morning.
You're not comparing apples to apples.

That tends to be bad design then.

A good design should allow a domain expert to use the system with little to no training.
Systems are to be designed for the people using them, not to have some shiny example in a portfolio.
We need to keep understanding how people use (and expect to use systems). Nothing has changed. Do you want to change the name from Information Architecture to UX Design. Are you truly worried about that?
Sad. Just f**king sad if your are.
Wow. It guessed linkedin passwords.
I hope that most people have an algorithm to remember their passwords and use a simple one for non-essential sites such as LinkedIn.
There is zero chance that an AI can guess my bank or email passwords. A little thing called entropy comes into play that AI doesn't help in breaking.
*cought* *cought* clickbait.
