Oh, one more thing. People don't use computers for benchmarks, they run these things called games and applications on them. Perhaps you've heard of them?
Psst... real world benchmarks > synthetic benchmarks.
You're assuming that the benchmarking code is reliable, and are utterly blinded by the idea that it's crowd-sourced benchmarking that you can't even stop to question the fundamentals. And you're saying someone's in the stone age. Right.
Actually their drivers still have stupid issues. I have a 5770, Windows 7 x64 and two screens. If I run a game in windowed-maximised (such as SC2) on one of the screens, then load up a YouTube clip on the other, the driver thinks it's running in 2D mode and downclocks the GPU. It's a completely absurd bug, and, IIRC, still not fixed.
I'm not saying "OMG Intel r better!!!11!oneone", but for most people, a Core iX is usually a better choice. It also eats a lot less power- almost half.
Here in the UK, the i3 2100 is also £40 cheaper than the Phenom 1090. Spending an extra £12 and getting an i5 2400 gets you a significantly faster and cooler-running chip in almost everything, bar things like SPEC and 3DSMax. I don't know much about AMD chipsets these days (my last AMD system was a Barton) but I'd hazard a guess you have to grab a video card as well, which means more money, no?
I quit because of a) RNG and b) 10-man raids hinging on someone doing a specific task with exact timing. So, RNG again I guess. The enjoyment of the game being linked to dribbling idiots (and no-one available to replace them) just pushed me over the edge.
I wouldn't really agree WP7 lacks polish, especially compared to the hackjob overlays that most manufacturers lock their Android users into. Mango is looking very, very nice and I'm seriously considering a Nokia WP7 phone next time around.
(Disclaimer: I have an HTC phone running CM7, no bias here)
That's one of the reasons I prefer Chrome these days- the Useless Bar is utterly useless. Chrome seems to remember everything I need it to, to the point at which I can usually type one letter to get up, say, BGR or whatever.
Yep. I can burn through my 50Gb so very quickly, but it is *very* nice to watch the traffic graph and see no spikes or dips- just the full speed of the line, 24/7. Their CS reps are also excellent- I got passed to the same rep each time I called when I had a line fault because the phone system looks up your calling number, sees the open ticket and the rep name and passes you through to them. Compared to dealing with our Indian friends, that kinda blew me away.
Agreed. I used to have to deal with Opal (the business end of what used to be Nildram) as well as TT on a daily basis, and their service is so slapped-together it's hilarious.
Does waterboarding count as cruel and unusual?
Ding ding winrar. The Toms article is very very good.

Oops. Spending an extra £12 over the price of the 1090 is what I meant to write.
Yeah but hang on a second, because a lowly i3 with one sixth the L2 cache handily beats it in low-thread situations:

What platform does iTunes run on? I'm genuinely curious, but wouldn't be surprised if it's not, in fact, XServes.
Yep. Hey guy, you suck so here's some money! Oh and we're depending on you to make this work, but hah! Sucks to be you!
I want mod points.
Here's a straw, suck it up.
Either that, or they're absolutely fucking genius at marketing. Just throwing that out there, not that it's hugely likely. But it does make you think.
What? It makes it easier to avoid censorship. Remind yourself of what Google did with China and the .hk redirect.
+1. DeadCat has evidently never tried this with elderly relatives over the phone. News flash: it's not going to happen.
I've been getting my work Exchange mail for months on my CM7 HTC Legend and it works just fine thank you very much.

"wouldn't work" == "EOLing it, not going to bother, buy a new one".
...wat

Well, he didn't post as AC so I guess you have to give it to him; he's not afraid to be dumb on his account.
You guys? Not so much.

+1. Zen are excellent; their caps are too low, but the service is *outstanding*.
