Oh, and if anyone wants to decide to build a dam near me, just make sure that you give me the heads up so that I can buy a few thousand acres of future waterfront before the prices go way up. (Hey, for the kind of money we're talking, I'll play the game, too!)
Now why would they want to do that. Were you one of the politician who was critical in getting the funding (and had your hand out)?
These guys aren't going to let you in on their game unless you have something to bring to the table.
...anyone basing their entire moral philosophy off one book is probably going to have something a little skewed. (Apologies to fundamentalists everywhere, those within Christianity and elsewhere...)
These people you so casually dismiss as "robots" sign up, generally speaking, when they're eighteen or nineteen years old; they believe, almost without exception, that they are doing so to serve their country, to protect the Constitution and the flag and Mom and apple pie. And you know what? At most times throughout our country's history, they've been right.
Back when I was one of those eighteen year olds and signed up it sure wasn't for any of that shit. It was to get money for college and some useful training while I was at it. It's not that I'm unpatriotic (far from it) it's just that patriotism have zero infuence on the decision.
Most of the guys I met fell into three categories; those there to get money for college, those there to get training so they could get a decent job on the outside and those that actually wanted a military career. That third catagory was tiny by comparison. There were a few exceptions, perhaps the strangest I met was a lawyer who had joined the
army national guard as an enlisted combat engineer, for the student loan replayment program.
If my kids ever want to join up, I think I'll have then read a little Smedley Bulter first.
My employer bans Skype (yes, also singled out by name in the company-wide memo), and the explanation we got is (and, I'm paraphrasing here) "it takes a lot of bandwidth to support all that streaming, and you've already got a phone."
Kinda makes sense from that point of view.
I'm not sure what my employers reasons are for not banning Skype, but I figure it saves them money
in the long run. Most of my calls are skype-to-skype and it doesn't cost a penny when I spend a couple
hours talking to someone in Hong Kong or Finland.
Looking through my Skype contacts, I see only one name that is not an employee of the company (and he
almost was).
Skype shouldn't be viewed any different than the phone on your desk, if the company makes it one of the
tools they provide. Spend to much time talking with friends with the phone on your desk and get in trouble, same goes for Skype.
You might say it's easier for them to track who your talking to with the phone on your desk. True, but that takes time. Why not just track how well I do my job, since that's what really matters (as long as your not running up the phone bill:-).
...name someone that gives more money to the poor than he.
Name someone who has as much money to give as he has. If I had half
as much money as Bill, I'd give more than he does.
I don't think it would be hard to find lots of people who give a larger percentage of thier wealth to the poor.
Some people give 'tell it hurts. I don't think Bill fells the pain.
I do remember Ted Turner giving
$1 Billion over ten years to the UN (a little less than a third his net worth at the time). The UN is not exactly "the poor" though.
Andrew Carnegie gave away 70% of his fortune
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to see Bill give any money to charity, but one has to wonder with so much more money than he can use, why he doesn't give more.
Not sure that one's true. I was reading something the other day and they were comparing the diet of someone 100 years ago to today. We've replaced whole grains with refined grains and added a lot of refined sugar to our diet.
Interestingly (and off topic) they said the question is not "why are 50% of Americans obese" it's "why aren't the other 50%".
Yet another reason to get rid of this useless coin.
I've been championing the idea of getting rid of the penny for years.
It goes something like this;
Round all purchases up to the nearest nickel.
Give the retailer a small cut for collecting it and then the rest gets
applied to the principal on the national debt. You could also give the
option to pay with the pennies if you have them, but we stop making new
pennies. Not making new pennies should save us a good bit all by itself.
Non Bell South customers who receive calls from Bell South Customers will soon see charges from Bell South on their phone bill. After all they are not paying to use
Bell Souths lines.
...conversely, people may use meaningless conversations with many keywords to delay the processing of these investigations.
That's why I always try to work in words and phrases like "George Bush", "jihad", "White House", "bomb", "nuclear", "anthrax" and "Pentagon" whenever I'm on the phone.
The US is just to big. That makes the dollar figures so large that even a little
graft is worth a fortune.
It seem to me that the countries that do a really good job are between 2 and 3 million in population. If only we could go back to a loose collection of states (and split a few of the big states).
For a fraction of that they could have hired hitmen for all the NTP management and thier legal counsle.
Now why would they want to do that. Were you one of the politician who was critical in getting the funding (and had your hand out)?

Please do not apologise for speaking the truth.

So he appointed judges with views different than his own.
Who'd you vote for?
I don't know, ask diebold. They had the final say.
I guess he should have said Peter Iron's A Peoples History of the A People's History of the Supreme Court

Where is most places?
Doesn't seem to be the case in the US
OK, but then your horse will need to show it's ID.
Take a look at the National Animal Identification System.
It's on the fast track to become mandatory by 2009 and may require you to register your horse and report it's every movement off your property.
Just think of the increase in cases of pink eye, not to mention other eye infections.

Are you sure? I know I wouldn't feel to friendly to anyone who showed up with a bunch of lawyers.
I thought it was "armloads of cash".
Cash gets your legislation introduced and voted for.
Just imagine what it told for Lincoln himself...
Why is he held in such high esteem anyway? Did everybody forget about Credit Mobilia?

Give it a try next time your on the phone.
Sounds like Linus kicked back somebody's kernel patch back to them and they decided to take thier ball and go home.
That's OK, we can make up for the single harvest with the larger volume of doubles.
Live Organ Transplants,

Anyone know of one that's not so fucked up?
Can I buy my neighbor's last grocery checkout receipt?
Why do you think some stores give out those cards you have to have to get the sale prices? That's why I don't shop at those stores.
Wouldn't it be better if it was a coalition of independent states that work together?
I think you hit the nail on the head there.

Well after reading this Wikipedia article, I'm pretty sure nobody "knows" what it means. So I don't feel so bad.
3200 nm, that not far, ... let's see a human hair is about 50,000 nanometers thick ...
Oh, you must mean Nautical miles :-)
So almost 6000 km, not bad.
