Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean that mandrake isn't just a better redhat than redhat anymore? Almost like coming into it's own? (Assuming, of course, that this is actually a better, more useful tool than disk druid, which is certainly seems to be.)

Don't even worry about the fact that you can only moderate each post by one point. I'd just give Rob a "gift" of some source code to expand/., and viola, instant unlimited moderation points for all users w/ the name kmj9907.:)

It's not saying that a trojan horse will be hidden w/in the code, it's saying that trojan horse programs can cause more trouble if they're open source, due to the fact that variations can be made. It's still a tremendous amount of misguided and misrepresentative FUD though.

That's all. This article, or the group being reported on, was definitely spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt. So you can use FUD here. You have my permission.
There's no reason to restrict the definition, just because it orginated in the area of marketing.

MetroWerks is releasing RedHat for Debian in the future according to their press releases. This may be the result of campainging by Debian. That's their perogative.
:) Redhat for Debian?
What, praytell, is that?

Uh, I believe he was referring to the big real estate craze in florida during the time of the depression. Property sold like crazy at high rates and alot of people invested. Unfortunately, most of it was swamp (can you say Everglades? I dunno, coulda been) and alot of people lost alot of money.
Groucho Marx made a film (w/ his bros. I suppose, never saw it) making fun of these people, but at the same time he was investing (and losing money!).

Same here. I took BeOS off my machine when I found out it didn't support my crappy old card. Eventually I'll buy a new one. This is cool though. Now I can realize my dream of having a Tri-boot with CivCTP on each OS. Nice way to compare the three OS's, I'd think.
Seriously, if this law is passed, every single person in australia who even knows what the internet is should smack every single person who voted yes right upside the face.
Granted, I don't know a tremendous amount about Australian politics, but I'm pretty sure the Spanish Inquisition was more tolerant!

Therefore, it must not have been noticed before the other because it has a lower score.

IMHO most americans aren't responsible enough to own cars, much less guns. If everyone in america had guns then every thursday two-thirds of the country would be in the hospital for shooting themselves (and family members) in the foot or worse.
But guns are only part of the issue. Culture is the issue being discussed. I think culture is to blame, but not the "Goth, D&D, internet" culture. American culture. A culture which allows the popular to spit on the unpopular. Which creates outcasts. Which makes kids feel like they have no reason to care about the world around them. The internet, D&D, and Goth allow people to have friends who support them. Quite the opposite of what most articles are implying, this is healthy. It is healthy to know someone is there for you. But in a society where popular kids are encouraged to exclude others and make them feel like they don't belong or are worthless, it is inevitable that some will revolt against this in violent ways. Years of torture can twist your mind, and while you may have been a good kid 8 yrs ago, you can be perfectly evil now.
Being convicted of a crime does not determine whether or not somebody is a criminal. Committing a crime does. You are not innocent even if you are not proven guilty, if you have committed a crime. People who say he is a criminal are stating their beliefs. Of course, their beliefs may or may not be ill founded, but that's another story. So there really is no problem with people saying he's a criminal, because they think he is and it is human nature to take what you think (regardless of whether or not you have a good reason for thinking it) and shove it in everyone's face (like I'm doing now).
As for this whole KM thing, I personally think it should be on a "civil rights" site, not a "geek stuff" site. The liberty violation is the real issue, not the cracker/hacker issue.

You just randomly sprinkled the word "technology" in there so you'd have an excuse to write about Kennedy and Celebrity worship.
This isn't news for nerds, it doesn't matter, and reading it was like swimming in quicksand.
Please stop inventing things to write about, lately you features have seemed to be non-events.

Our calendar is based
or
Our calendars are based
The "calculations" is the object, and "calendar(s) " is the subject. Therefore the is/are is applied to "calendar(s)".
