  1. Speed limits on Another Step Towards the Driverless Car · · Score: 1

One of the neat things about automation is that it would have an amazing effect on the flow of traffic. Imagine if just 10% of the cars on the Interstates travelled at the speed limit? At first there would be more accidents as nuts try to road-rage a machine, but soon people would be forced to travel at the same speed. I think this alone would be beneficial to the traffic stats.

There's one thing that's always driven me nuts. The fact that daylight savings has little to do with energy savings and more to do with making it light on winter mornings. That's right, winter

Think about it... The equinoxes are (roughly) on September 21 and March 21. So with the new daylight savigns plan, this year sees us enter DST 10 days before the equinox and leave it 44 days after the equinox! (We now end DST ont he first Sunday in November)

People have to get the seasons out of their heads and actually think about the daylight.

But it is the fastest best thing I've ever used for scanning huge number of pages at once. Tabbed browsing is a gimic that steals screen space and makes me move my hands from the keyboard to the mouse.

Today) Opera has missed the boat. They may have more features and more neat and whizzy things in a tigher package than anyone else, but they don't have the few things people want. Firefox is The Way and what I use when I want anything more than raw reading capability. The delays in getting versions out shows just how dead the "We'll do all the work for you" model is.

I'm sorry guys. I'm glad I could support you when IE was free, but you're just not fast enough or extensible enough.

We're eternally hear about this site or that site being upset that Google or someone else links to some of their stuff. There's a simple solution...

    De-list them!

The message to these sites is simple: You either have all of your content searchable or none. No picking and choosing. No letting the front page be at the top of list while everything else is accessible but hidden.

If not being in a search engine is ok with the web site, then fine. This would create economic pressure for these people to either play nice or leave. And it would also reduce the caseload in the courts.

And if you really wanted to have fun, you could always threaten to de-list anyone who links to those sites. Talk about pressure.
