    If they can convince Amazon that they are you, what is to prevent them from changing your info, such as your address? Now they're ordering 100 books to be shipped to their address, and you won't know till you get the bill...

    Their patent is on the use of cookies (done before) with an on-line database (done before) to assist on-line shopping (done before). Seems pretty obvious to me.

    If anyone can read that cookie (as can be done if you are/were using IE) then anyone can pass themselves off as you to Amazon.

    Actually, they have every intention of support Glide apps under the DRI. It's just not high on their priority list.

    You need *one* libGL for all the DRI cards... This means one libGL for ATI Rage 128, Matrox G400, Intel 810, and 3dfx Voodoo3/4/5. This is the libGL shipped with XFree86 4.0.* and up. nVidia requires a completely different libGL.

    You are correct... They are not using the Direct Rendering Infrastructure from Precision Insight. Instead of needing a nvidia_dri library, you need a whole different libGL on your system.

    "Want to upgrade to the newest kernel? Got the source? No problem! Binary only? You may have to wait for the vendor to release a version for that kernel.."

    And that's exactly what happened between 2.2.* and the 2.4.0-test* for people using their drivers.

    Incorrect... The V5 needs to be plugged into the powersupply for the case. It does not need it's own.

    Let me clarify... The kernel tarball contains kernel source. Period. There is no source for the GL libraries or GLX extension anywhere in the linux download directories.

    That tarball that you've pointed out to us contains NO SOURCE!!! It contains the necessary libraries and a Makefile which installs those directories.

That particular tarball contains the libGL libraries, the glx extension, and a Makefile which installs them on your system. That's it. No Source. Ranessin

    Funny how nVidia's drivers hard lock my machine, forcing me to hit the power. Funny how all queries sent to the e-mail address nVidia supplied went unanswered. Funny how the irc channel they suggest was quite useless for solving this problem... And funny how nVidia has lost my business since it obviously never meant anything to them in the first place.

    There are a number of decent computers that could benefit from a Geforce2 or a Voodoo 5500 that don't have AGP slots. My computer, for example, came with an on board AGP SiS graphics chip... Not the greatest in the world.

    Too bad their not as dedicated in supporting their linux users. If you have any problems don't expect any help from the e-mail address they supply. And the irc channel they mention is completely useless. At least with 3dfx, you know who the developers are and you have easy access to them. Ranessin

    Every installation I've done in the past year automatically configures and updates modules.conf (or conf.modules) for all new hardware (and the nVidia rpms add's the necessary line automatically as well).
