Hell no. Well, not in the U.S/Europe anyway. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and copyright is part of the law. It says you cant copy anything that is copyrighted (with a few exceptions). You dont need to be informed of this anymore then you dont need to be informed you cant kill the person sitting next to you on the train.

Work arrounds are as evil as , on a green background. You have no idea your end user is color blind. Style sheets, and logical HTML tags, allow the use control. Swing allows the User control.

I filter off email lists I'm subscribed to into appropiate folders before that rule, as as I said, I do check the folders, just not as often as my normal mail. The "Trivia" catches "TriviaPOP" spam and some other stuff, very unlikely that willl effect anyone apart from joe@trivialpursuit.com, but again I do skim spam subjects every so often. My false positives are almost exclusivly mailing lists I've just signed up to and havent put a rule in place for.

I never delete email though, not even spam, and everything gets inspected, just in differing orders of priority.

Mpeg is crappy for editing. Sure your home movie will be ok, but if you want fram by frame control you have to change the mpeg to a format that doesnt rely on intra-frame compression. If you want to apply effects to the source video, it's not going to look nice either.

  14. Re:4200 RPM on First HDD MPEG4 Video Camcorder · · Score: 1

Depends what else the drive is used for though. A 5400 RPM drive will just about do he 20-25MBits per second needed for DV. However if it's the same drive as your operating system and yoru swap, you start having problems. We lost a lot of frames if we did anything beyond moving the mouse capturing to the same drive as premiere. After we got a 7200 80GB drive, not a single dropped frame.

I usually cope by having a couple of folders in kmail I flush spam into

BODY contains "The following message was sent to you as an opt-in subscriber to RB Express."
    FROM contains Trivia
    TO or CC contains "johnsmith@isorox.co.ku"
    FROM contains theracingpost.com
TO or CC contains "spam" (I use sitespam@isorox to sign up to sites)
BODY contains "to receive" AND "more of these offers"
    Move to a Spam folder

If TO or CC doesnt contain
    isorox.co.ku
    exeter.ac.ku
    ex.ac.ku

    Move to possible Spam

That gets about 80-90% of my spam.

I skim Possible Spam when I get time, usually once or twice a day. I skim Spam about once every 2 days. i've got a couple of rules that just delete the spam straight off (known junk addresses that I'll never need, certain subjects, etc). Keep all my spam too, and check it when I get time, just in case.
