Considering the way things have been going lately with peoples rights online, in 20 years we may be having/. articles presented to us in conference rooms.
"Microsoft it's time for you to grow up and stop being a bunch of whiney bitches. All we hear from you is: 'Our product is better, linux sux'. You don't hear people from the Linux community bashing Windows do you?"
Isn't great to see company's supporting (or at least trying to support) Linux and the Open Source community.
The whole community just seems to be getting better and stronger everyday.
Linux has really made a giant leap in the last year, it really blows my mind. Linux has been put on a watch, game console, Google has 8000 Linux servers, corporations seem to be embracing it, more users are hearing more about Linux everyday it feels like it won't be long before it's a household name and almost everyone has a partition of Linux on the computer.
Only if the 13373575 of the group could grow up....
This really puts into perspective just how fast we could be wiped off this place. And how silly things like money, violence and buffer overflows really are.
Personally I believe Opera is the best browser out there. Opera is able to do things that Netscape can't do right, like tables and mouseover affects. It crashes LESS often and takes up LESS system resources.
Sure the banner ads suck, but you gotta make buck somehow.
I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes an equivalant to IE in performance (which is by far the best browser out there right now)
Add another one to the list of things that need to be more user friendly before Linux will ever be truly user friendly.
I've alway's heard stories about how printing on Linux was a bitch. I do agree. Although, with the latest distributions it is becoming alot easier, if you know what you're doing.
There's isn't much difference between setting up a local printer and setting up a networked printer (as long as you know the address of the networked printer).
CUPS and ESP Pro (trial version only) do make it alot easier to setup a networked printer, only if printing from the command line were a lot easier.
I say kinda, cuz we don't actually provide our customers with the dial up. We buy accounts from a 2nd party provider (who get there's from the big boys, i.e. megapop/uunet) for $8 and we sell them to our customers for $19.95. We host e-mail, webpages and whatnot all in house. If our provider didn't suck too much we'd have alot more customers.
This is rediculous.
This is like me moving into a new apartment, buying a telephone (even though I haven't bought service yet) and then having Pacbell call me regarding setting up service with that new "naked" phone I just bought.
Pretty soon Microsoft is gonna start phone soliciting to get new customers.
All of this mod'ing is getting out of hand
What's next, gold plated floppy drives, spoilers and chrome screws?
Mabey I'll "lower" my case, and put a new 15 inch base to it. Add some hydrolics and play Counterstrike in style.
I can see the next Dell commercials now: Hot chicks standing around an extra sleek case.
I'll save myself a couple hundred bucks and spend it on performance rather than looks.
I don't know where to find that kind of information, but I bet it'll be pretty interesting to read.
It's funny, we'll all bitch about censorship here in the U.S. until we read what other country's are doing and then we'll think: "oh, i guess it's not that bad here".
ya, not that bad until our government regulates/controls/censors something else. But then we'll read about how it is in, say Uganda, and then we'll think: "oh, that's okay I guess"
1. Apply Service Pack 10 to NT machine
2. Run "apt-get update/upgrade" on Debian machine
3. Configure kernel on PDA
4. Defrag the toaster
5. Upgrade firewall on air conditioner
6. Setup Apache on microwave.
I can see my future is gonna be a pretty tight schedule.
DSL uses the old copper lines that your phone uses. Unless you're house was rebuilt/rewired/or rephoned (?) you probably have old lines, which can slow down speeds. Another thing is that you have to be within a 18,000 foot radius to the central dsl office/cirquit.
As for cable on the other hand, distance does not matter and it's running on the same fiber optic wire's as you're cable TV runs off of. Much faster and reliable.
I am a very happy cable broadband subscriber and the rumors the DSL companys were spreading about cable and the whole myth behind sharing your connection with your neighborhood and speed is complete BS. In my house alone, I have our cable split 4 different ways (3 tv's and my computer) and I'm still getting download speeds of the *promised* 768Kbs (about 90kilobytes a second....even with the T.V.'s on (I did a test)
One more thang to add about cable internet access, I called them on a Tuesday and I was up and running on the followin Wednseday. Compare that to the 2-8 week turnaround time of most DSL companies.

What they really meant to say was:
"Microsoft it's time for you to grow up and stop being a bunch of whiney bitches. All we hear from you is: 'Our product is better, linux sux'. You don't hear people from the Linux community bashing Windows do you?"
p.s. linux 0wnz m$

You forget who's making this software.
sheesh!

Remember "Bat Boy", I had nightmares from that picture for years!
Now that's journalism

They wouldn't even have had to have a product, just sell the name. Now that's 1337!

What if I lose it. What if I place it in a white room, with white walls, white carpet and bright florescent lights.
HOW AM I GONNA FIND IT!
on a side note, if they can make subwoofers out of this I might just buy a Volkswagaon.
If it's a go it's a go.
These guys are smart enough to know when their product is ready or not, we should give them some credit on a speedy process.
That's because all the /. writers are lazy and depend on us for news.
*sheesh*
If a synchronized swimmer drowns, do they all drown?
(laughter from audience)
Thank you, thank you.
i'm sure it was good though.

How is Bruce Willis going to land on a comet though? Ahh yes, Hollywood will take care of that.
I love pretending everything is so simple.

I'm already waiting a minute or two for pages to load, I don't wanna wait another 2-3 minute's for a page to load because of a banner.
Forget about /.'ing a page, better watch out for bannering a page.
