I run my server/site on a 90 mhz ppc 7200 box. It works great. I usually just telnet in. It runs X ok when I'm on the console, but its not a speed demon either. Its good for coding and surfing etc...
at taking the g forces jets can put out.. A modern combat jet can pull so many g's as to knock the pilot out. Its a limit on combat aircraft. So by flying remotely you can do better. It would really suck though if the computer system didn't work right. I think a fly by wire system with a human operator would be better.
Its also less risk to the pilot to be on the ground....
the military relized a while ago that human pilots can't put up with all the g forces the planes can take. Pilots have been known to "black out" or "red out" when turning there planes to fast (there was a documentary on this a while back, complete with on plane footage of a trainie who blacked out and was resucued by his co-pilot instructor...).
If this works it could in theory be the best combat jet yet.
Think about it. Aol competes with MS and its MSN service. AOL had to agree to bundle internet explorer to get distributed with windows.
It a natural consequence of MS getting into so many fields.
Do you think Sony is going to like selling PCs with MS windows while competing with the X-Box.
I'm not kidding, they sent me some junk mail about a year ago to encourage us "worker bees" to turn in our company if they were using pirated software. It had little cartoon bees on it..
I found it kinda odd that they had my name.. Also how would you even know if a large corporation purchased a licence or not and even if you did know, would you really want to bite the hands that feeds.
Also friend of mine had a former employee quit and then turn his company into these people. Of course they had all the licenses they needed but it was a needless pain to prove it.
And they were mono, had 3 speeds which no-one could figure out.
You could tune a maximum of 12 channels, which you had to turn one of 12 little nobs to adjust the tuning on each one.
And WE LIKED IT, becuase we could record, unlike these namby -pamby PS2.
heck,PS2 was an IBM Computer back in the day with a wierd kinda slots, but I digress...
I think the prevelence of these people trying to break in HELPS software in general in making security a high consideration in design.
Laws like this might make security worse by giving the non technical the impression that the law will protect them from someone in a foreign land thats trying to break in...
Your not going to stop these people ever unless you make security a high priority.
The question is how do you fairly prosecute the really mallicious ones while letting those just poking around off. How are damages calculated? The Mitnick case set a very bad precident in this deptartment with ridiculously high losses sited in court but not to shareholders or the Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC).
They often use a plastic sheet to protect screens of clear plastic when shipping. They're sort of "stuck" on without adhevsive. Nokia phones have one over the screen as do sony VCRs etc..

When my brother went to UVM he had to buy a computer. It was $3000 dollar IBM microchannel 386 which he paid for over his 4 years there. When he graduated it was so slow it was next to useless.
When I was at UMass we could use the Engineering computer lab which was chock full of fine 486s and dot matrix printers..We could use them 24x7 by getting a key from the dept.
I don't see how requiring computers helps anything.
We hate to admit it by ie 4.5 mac (very very different than windows internet explorer) is the best browser on the mac....
Mac users love to hate MS, but mant have had a slow change of heart because this browser is good fast and stable, (much more than netscape and mozilla).
It is also very standard complient unlike its windows conterpart. This might be because Apple ships 2 browsers with its OS, and there is more competion. (apple bundles ie so that microsoft wilil keep Office comming....)
If MS was making linux software it would have to be good software then only slowly would it be accepted.

Your argument is flawed in that exact coipies in fact copies were imposible to mass produce before the invention of the printing press, and artists were paid money by the wealthy to create for them.. You wanna try copying something like a michalengelo ???
also recording is a fairly "new" recent phenoninom.
Things will still be created, but its not right to strip the creators of control of what happens to their work. Its like taking the GPL and violating it and using the excuse 'information wants to be free'. You need these protections to make the market work.
While many aren't motivated by dollars , the majority are. People like to eat.
I consider myself and "artist" and actually have won some awards. But I do it as a hobby. If someone were to take my work and set up a bussiness distributing it I would be quite angry, even though I don't make very much money on my art, its the principle of the thing. Your taking advantage of me, and run the risk of my not showing my work for free..
The path you choose you end up down some pseudo communist ideal fairly world that just doesn't work.
On cassette tape. A visicalc clone (spead sheet) and a couple games. (life, a maze game etc..)
I had the zxx100 which looks identical. I liked it but the lack of a space bar and a very stange keyboard/.entry system. Each key had about 4 symbols and basic commands, depending on input mode it would do different things.
Apple users (myself included) are waiting for faster g4s/g3s. Thus lower sales, thus stock getting beaten.
The next gen g4 (g4+ ) is a faster g4 and hopefully will move apple beyond the 500 mhz where its been sitting for a while now.
I don't think the dual processer machine is filling in well enough, because many apple users remember apples dual 200 machine that worked really fast with the one supported application (photoshop...)
Does anyone know how well OS X beta handles 2 processors?
you can copy a CD to a minidisc through a digital connection.
You can't copy that Mini Disc to another minidisc digitally (you can anaolog thouhgh duh.)
However there is a box they sell in japan which claims to remove the copy management. Your supposed to run the output through a fiber into the box and it removes the protection system. They say it also removes track marks, labels etc.
You can't prevent copying. period. You can only hope that people act a little responsibly.
they're just trying to make it harder to prevent piracy from becoming too rampant.
When I worked for a daily college paper as an editor (ok it was photos...) but I had to read the paper everyday (or a least look at the photos) and I instructed my staff to do so as well. It was part of the job.
I'd also mark-up a copy (constructive criticism) from time to time, so newer staff could see what worked and what didn't.
Slashdot being dynamic is harder to do this with, but reading it once and a while would seem a good idea.
There are many extensions and utilities to modify the apple UI to make it more usefull.
Kalidescope allows you to modify Mac OS look and feel with "THEMES" much like Gnome.
Now Utilities has/d a package to add all sorts of UI enhancements
I use personally use pertisimo which puts up and down arrows on both ends of the scroll bar. I find very usefull, and I miss it at work...
resexcellence.com has some other utilities.
Give to animal charities.....(Audbon, sierra club etc.....)
Give the critters a nice place to live and prevent the sprawl of people...
Also a good place to get away from people..

Info world and
all net devices
Uses transmetta processor , is basically a web pad.

Support for new hardware will definitely be lacking (as the hardware doesn't exists so the dirvers don't.)
In a couple years the games will be useless, unless these are just simple non-3d keyboard games...

Really, women are funny about putting up with tech guys who are married to their jobs...
so they turn to drugs... go figure.
Its the obvious solution.

Was MPPP considered broadcasting the music in the final judgement?
thats an interesting question and I can't find the answer.
As an interesting aside, I think there is an extra fee placed on Digital Audio Tapes (DAT) that somehow goes to the music business.
I think canada has that fee on blank CDs.
Does anyone know what other fees we're paying for media?
