Oh, wait. That has a minority share of the market. With Android you can buy any brand of phone. On any carrier. Any price range. Any feature set / price tradeoff that you prefer. Any color. So many colors, styles, features, prices, storage sizes, processor performance levels that it makes the iPhone look like the uniform droids marching over the cliff in Apple's 1984 commercial.
Complain that Android isn't perfect. It isn't. Really. But it's where the momentum is. It's where the developers and apps are. It isn't standing still year over year with only minor tweaks.
If the two major pillars of the prison camp, er . . . um, I meant walled garden are the Mac and the iPhone, then letting either pillar fail gives people significantly less reason to stay in the walled garden.
If you get a non-Mac PC / laptop, then suddenly you are a bit more interested in your phone being able to interoperate in a world that isn't 100% apple.
Something that is sub par within the walled garden forces people to venture outside the walled garden. Then they see it from the outside. On the inside the walls may be pretty. But from the outside, they see the barbed wire, machine gun emplacements, etc. They may also realize a whole world of other brands of products not made by Apple. Smart watches. TVs set top boxes. Home automation.
There is no need for a third party VPN app. Just use the Google managed VPN in Android. This can be used automatically when you use a public WiFi hotspot.
Manager: how do you measure leadership?
Tech: with a suitably designed test instrument.
They may want measurements now, right now! But I hope they first took time to consult with Trump to find out which conclusion the surveyors are supposed to announce.
How about charging INVERSELY to the usefulness to society. Degrees that benefit society cost less. Useless degrees cost more. Degrees that are a drain on society cost the most.
Would that encourage more graduates in useful fields like STEM, and fewer in less useful fields like management, or useless fields like middle management and marketing? We need some people in these fields, but fewer of them, and only the best of them should get it.
Those who can, do.
Those who can't, teach.
Those who can't teach, administrate.
Those who can't administrate, go to private industry in marketing or management.
Those who can't make it in the private sector get a government job.
Those who can't make it in a government job (almost unthinkable) run for political office.
Those who can't make it as a politician become a lobbyist or work in a think tank.
And if you can't even succeed at that, then what?
In the US you only enrich yourself by indirect means, such as 'campaign contributions' and gifts. But both major political parties in the US are definitely in favor of wealth redistribution. It just depends on which direction they want the wealth to move.
Are you saying Samsung doesn't make the best wannabe iPhone?:-)
I used to like Samsung's products. After the S5, not so much. But I wasn't a fan of Samsung they way I was a huge Apple fan back in the day. However, Apple today is a very different company than the great company I remember. I've found a phone I like really well. I hope you do also. I don't expect that I will ever view Apple they way I once did. (And I never viewed Samsung the same way that I did the classic Apple.)
You may mean that they can get away with any crime. Probably true.
But don't say bad things can't happen to them. The people in charge can make mistakes that have a significant impact on the country. Examples: banksters too big to fail. Detroit rust belt bankruptcies and bailouts. Wall Street nearly wrecking the global economy.
It is premature to suggest that nothing bad can happen to Samsung no matter what they do. After the excellent Galaxy S5, they afflicted us with the Galaxy S6, and then with the very hot Galaxy Note 7. I think the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco affected them significantly. The managers in charge of that need to be taken out back and promoted and given bonuses.
I find it astonishing that the Galaxy S5 had removable battery, could accept an SD card, AND WAS FREAKIN' WATERPROOF. At least extremely water resistant. Oh, and had a headphone jack.
Then what did Samsung do in the Galaxy S6? Not waterproof. No SD card. And non-replacable battery. Why? (And Samsung stated as much . ..) to be more like an iPhone. More metal and glass. (freakin idiots)
Newsflash: if I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought an iPhone. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
In the end, it was the bloatware that made me move away from Samsung. Now I like my Nexus 6P, unlocked, with no bloatware and plenty of storage. All paid for up front. And it's got a screen as big as a Galaxy Note. (Is that a Nexus 6P in your pocket, or are you just excited to see me?)
The purpose for lab fees is to recover costs when everyone signs up for the lab but nobody signs up for the lecture. Example: sex education 101.
picoparsecs per fortnight is to be avoided for being more concise.
The commonly used furlongs per fortnight (yes, really, google it) is to be avoided due to familiarity.
Bu, bu, but . . . iPhone, iPhone, iPhone!

Yes! That!

Q. How many inches per second is an atto parsec per micro fortnight?
A. Surprisingly close, very close in fact, to one.
Atto parsecs per micro fortnight is my favorite unit of velocity.
Google for: "attoparsec per microfortnight to inches per second"
Get answer: 1.00433

Apple will market another feature allowing you to find your lost phone using your earbuds / headphones.
Or, it could emit a sound.
Loud enough for you to hear across the room.
And then 'accidentally' do this again while you're wearing the earbuds / headphones.
Stop bitching about Apple removing the headphone jack! It's a smart business decision.
It's called: Knowing your customer base.
Apple removed the headphone jack to prevent users from molesting the phones.
Some other phone brands don't seem to believe their users physically capable of this and thus kept the headphone jack.
Even if you lose them, conventional headphones / earbuds are likely to be considerably cheaper to replace if lost.
That sounds like another opportunity to sell some snake oil to the Chinese government.

Did you put a $ in the subject to indicate those are an extra cost item in his hotels?
Australia should build a wall to keep out illegal immigrants!
There will be some controversy about which country will pay. For example, who pays for the wall along the Australia-Canada border?
More research should be done on this subject.
Windows 10 having popup ads just smacks of desperation on the part of Microsoft.

Samsung, which many world maps mis-label as "South Korea", has dismissed arrest warrant for the head of the country, er . . . um, Samsung.
Do not blame the engineers. This can only be the fault of managers who sit on padded chairs and think they know better than engineers.

You seem to be under the impression that the incoming administration will be bound by the constitution.
I don't inflate and tell.
