    1. Tivo is the cool kid's DVR. can you name any other DVRs by cable companies? what's that replayTV? DEAD.
    2. Tivo does have pop out media. it's called Tivo to go or TTG, and you can place your tivo content on any portable device or pc.
              there's also a Tivo with a dvd recorder.
    3. Tivo has better features than any other DVR on the market.
    4. Tivo doesn't require a subscription fee. they only charge for the program data, which they don't get from the cable companies.
    5. you can use Tivo with Satellite or Cable or off-air.
    6. Tivo now has Amazon unbox service. buy or rent movies or shows over the Tivo.
    7. Tivo doesn't rely on any service provider. The service is the program data. (which they get from an independent supplier) Tivo doesn't care where you get your TV from.

    how many commentors have a Tivo?

    The Tivo has an intuitive interface and useful features.

    how many set-top boxes have useful features other than their core features?
    I watch the day's NY Times video casts on my Tivo. I can view my home movies on my Tivo.
    I can view my vacation pictures on my Tivo.
    I can transfer my Tivo programs onto my computer to burn to DVD. I can store an entire season of a show on my Computer or DVD.
    I can transfer any video to my Tivo after the Tivo desktop program transcodes it.

    I can SKIP COMMERCIALS!

    Every employee that works at the site needs to have proper training in information security and social engineering counter-measures.
    These sound complex and technical but they are not.
    what is sensitive information?
    You do not store any sensitive information in any place that's not explicitly secure.

    you complement your training program with mandatory password restrictions.
    Linux already has these restrictions for users.
    password is too short, password is based on a dictionary word, password must contain numbers and letters.

    Only YOU can prevent social engineering!

    Why do we need another windows?
    Is it necessary? Should they instead focus on getting the stuff they already shipped working stable and secure?

    Apple doesn't need to ship another OS every three years.
    IBM, Red Hat, Novell, et al. don't need to ship a new OS every three years.

    Microsoft just wants a "new for the sake of new" OS.
    Though, it will keep a lot of underskilled and overpaid MCSEs in business.

    Fear is good. It's how you stay alive. It keeps you out of trouble.

    It has been shown in scientific testing that High Fructose Corn Syrup disrupts the chemicals in the brain that make you feel full. If you don't feel full, you'll unknowingly eat more. This is the cause for the obesity epidemic.

    I'll have you know you insensitive fuck, that I'm 6ft and weigh 285lbs. I go the the gym 3 times and week and workout for an hour. I ride the bike and treadmill vigorously for 20 mins each and then I workout on the weight machines. I eat less than 1000 calories a day. and not fucking candy bars. I eat health balanced foods including vegetables and fruits, meats and grains.

    My abs are strong, my arms are strong, and my legs are strong. I've been doing this for 7 months. I can use 80lbs on the ab machines without breaking a sweat. I can do 200lbs on the leg machines without breaking a sweat. I can do 150lbs on the arm machines without breaking a sweat.

    but I'm still fucking FAT. Don't sit there on your fat ass and tell me that there's no epidemic. I still wear a size 46 pants.

    all rss/atom readers should incorporate meta tags for original content vs blogged content.
    I really find blogs completely pointless.
    I find it a terrible waste of time to get stuck reading a 6th degree blog about an article whose source eludes me.

    I don't subscribe to any blogs at all. except /. and engadget and the register. and linuxtoday.

    Comcast figured out that it's a much better thing to finish large downloads faster to alleviate net congestion.

    Their network isn't bad, I have comcast and it's been decent in the past year.

    I'm a certified Linux admin.
    I can't do any math beyond very basic algebra. (learning disabilities)
    I just decided to go to college.
    I finished my first c++ class with an A.
    The math involved was basic math.

    The hard part is thinking like a computer.
    I didn't need algebra to learn to program.
    My brain's ability to do logic is quite different from the normal logic most other people do because I had such a poor background in math.
    Even though I can't do advanced math, I'm still excelling in computer science.
    I understand true computer and network security; I have a fresh view on how to approach programming problems.

    I am starting my advanced c++ class in august and I'm sure I'll pass that class also. There's a lot less math involved in programming than you think.

    Computer science doesn't need high-level math.

    Computer engineering does.
