It reminds me of the old joke about the bartender serving free beer. A patron, elated at the deal, sat drinking for a couple of hours, and eventually had to urinate badly. He finds the bathroom door locked, and the bartender tells him "the key'll cost ya 100 bucks"
Well, to buy a Flash APP from Texas Instruments for the TI-73, 83+, 89 and 92+ you need to put in your calculator's ID number online, pay online, and then you can download a version of the APP that will only work on your calculator. AFAIK, nobody has cracked this yet.
"And can you believe this perpetual motion machine she built? It just keeps going faster and faster!... Lisa, in this house, we obey the laws of THERMODYNAMICS!" - Homer Simpson, as he destroys Lisa's perpetual motion machine
For the sake of an extreme example, a Geo Metro that travels 500 miles won't cause the same road damage that a semi-truck would over the same distance.
I'll bet a Geo Metro doesn't cause as much distance over 500 miles as a semi does in 250 miles.
What site? I'm assuming most of the sites run by slashdotters will have a greater share for Gecko-based browsers than, say, Yahoo. But Yahoo wouldn't be a good indication either, as most of the people who are "enlightened" enough to use a Gecko browser don't need/want a portal.
Well, at college I can download a Mozilla nightly build in about two minutes. At home, it takes half an hour, at least. But no matter where I am, I use the newest nightly build. I just download it overnight, and install in the morning at home.
Of course, I'm already hooked on Mozilla. People not hooked may not be willing to spend half an hour downloading a browser, and they certainly won't do it every night.
After all, police are, for good or ill, given legal authority to investigate. Reporters...are not.
What about freedom of the press?
When you get down to it, policemen (and women) are just people. And if they can't get enough cause to get a warrant to search your garbage, then they shouldn't even be thinking about you as a suspect.
Apparently you haven't played Tribes 2. Everybody gets Unhandled Exceptions. A few people I know have called Sierra's tech support and are told it's a bug they're trying to fix.
It does crash too often, but for me the gameplay more than makes up for that. One nice thing I've found about T2 is that it works nearly as well on 56k as it does on a LAN connected to a T1.
Actually I meant to say T2's network code is so good that a T1 and 56k feel the same. Also, I don't snipe much--I spend most of my time riding in transports to the enemy base.
4 - I know for a fact that the guy who runs NTsig is paid by M$. I don't think the other officers are, but they're probably just waiting for the guy who does get paid to die or graduate.
The aforementioned NTsig contest prizes are given by M$ because the contest is only for.NET-created software.
5 - Interesting.
6 - Maybe they're having problems over the break with less people monitoring the equipment or something.
Ever played Tribes 2? I've played it online both on a LAN connected to a T1 and a 56k modem, and I can't tell a difference between the two. I'd say there's a good chance T2: Aerial Assault for the PS2 will be similar.
I plan to get T2: Aerial Assault soon. I like T2 on my computer, but there's too many "Unhandled Exceptions". I did see that Aerial Assault only supports 16 people in multiplayer, and I'm used to playing with 60+, but I guess I could get used to that.
No, but I saw the commercials.
Note: I have no idea what version iDVD is at.

Cool sig.
Colored contacts and hair dye.
Exactly. A full semi will cause much more damage over 10 miles than a Geo Metro over 20.
Also, what if I do a lot of driving on land I own? How can they reasonably say they need a road tax from that?
Damnit!!--we forgot to fight!!
Look at Recall. Also, there are plans to include automatically saving the current tab session continuously with MultiZilla.

They're also changing some of the links on the side menu: they all (or the ones I've tried, at least) seem to forward to isonews.com.
But a computer just isn't a computer without the BSOD.

Then why don't you hook up your computer to your widescreen TV and your surround sound?
