  1. Enguard Linux on New Security-Enhanced Linux Release · · Score: 1

I don't know if I would trust a version of linux produced by NSA. We all saw what happened with the clipper chip, and other things that they have done. Although if they have open sourced it, then someone could anaylize the code. I am not that good. In the mean time, has anyone seen Enguard Linux (http://www.enguard.org)? It is supposedly very secure. If that is so, then what do we need the NSA version for?

  2. Hackers are terrorists? on Hackers: Uncle Sam Wants You! · · Score: 1

Wasn't it just in the last couple of days that they called hackers terrorists. Now they want hackers help? So they get your help until they are done with you, and then they arrest you for being a terrorist. If I am not mistake, you can ask Kevin Poulsen about that. I believe he was the hacker working for the FBI that did time for hacking.

  3. over seas on What's Now State of the Art in Encryption Technology? · · Score: 1

So the government wants to put back doors in encryption. First of all, if there is a back door, someone out side of the government will find it. Therefore, what is the use of encryption anyway. Secondly, there are export restrictions on encryption, but not import restrictions (as far as I know). So if you download something like gnupg from a non-us machine (ie the server in Germany), can the US control it in any way?

  4. Scapegoat on Philip Zimmermann and 'Guilt' Over PGP · · Score: 1

The government always needs someone to blame. If a person gets shot, then the gun manufactures created an evil tool. If a gang is involved, then rap music made them do it. They are always looking for a scapegoat. Just because someone abuses a tool, doesn't mean the tool is inhearantly evil. Otherwise, everything would be evil, because everything can be used for a destructive purpose. I can not think of anything that can not be used to cause injury in one way or another.

  5. Not Perl Harbor on U.S. Attack -- More Updates · · Score: 1

This has very few comparisons to Perl Harbor. There is not another "World War" going on, although there are some serious disputes.
The World Trade Center is not a military base, civilians were attacked. The pentagon is military, but should have been a lot more protected then Perl Harbor.
Supposedly, the NSA new about the attack at Perl Harbor, but the military didn't respond properly. In this case......As far as I know, we didn't have any warning. I saw no reports about a plane hijacking before the attack. Normally, we here about a hijack right after it happens, but not this time.
