What seems off to me about these filtering and pattern matching programs is the vague key values. Like genre recognition software for managing movies, where do you put your stops, what do you filter on? When you're looking for directions, you have a simple weighted graph traversal, the data is mainly empirical. But when you're looking for a plumber, what're the key values and who puts them in for each entry?
I'm graduating and I don't have a job yet. Define unsophisticated... Sounds like a great job, all the fun of being a rent-a-cop without the worry of ever having to stop anyone or get beaten up!
A large part of the reason that Europe was lagging behind (at least from what I saw in Germany over the summer) is that internet is very expensive. Germans however are nuts for cellular phones (which are often cheaper to use than their home phones) and have ways of downloading music to them and burning that on minidisc. I was staying with a family that had an ISP but still gave me money to go to an internet cafe rather than use their service because it was so expensive. I believe the issue is that the government has allowed a monopoly on all existing phone lines and the only companies that can get around it are newer, like cellular providers.
I confess I don't know much about this subject. Just that I can't use DVD's from Europe because the region encoding some already-rich guy has put on them to stay rich or become richer. My question is, what are the implications of this for gaming systems? I hate waiting for games to come out in America when I can see them on Japanese websites (and on IRC, but I don't have the patience for that). Can someone more knowledgeable about this give me some insight?
1. You can get from England to Australia in two hours, but what about going to America. You'd be up there for all of like 5 minutes and pay millions of dollars to do it.
2. Military applications, huuuge negative. Yeah, we might be able to move people and equipment faster. But then again crazies in various countries will be able to lob things at us faster. The Star Wars program isn't really ready to stop this yet.
3. What do they feed you on these things, roasted peanuts or Tang?
How long until someone tries to make these things mandatory? Better yet, someone suing the government so that we all have to have them implanted when we're born! Better still, having them wipe any part of our brains that may hold music we didn't pay for!

This isn't really even a communist thing. Geek persecution on both sides of the wall was rough. I mean, where's Alan Turing?
All you have to do is be a poor college student like myself, there are a myriad of free resources for filing for my meager return online.
Must say I'm genuinely curious (and genuinely lazy). How does it do on thick carpet/uncarpeted floors, stairs, etc.?
This is welcome news, I'm very lazy and I've always wanted something else to do my cleaning, pyramid exploring and killing for me.
Are the artifacts down there worth all the shots you'd have to get to swim in the Hudson?

I can't wait for the ridiculously easy fix for this one. All you have to do is spit on it and it not only copies, but increases the quality!
