sorry i know about the nokia already
(forgot to mention it in the last post)

    like 999.00+ for a 11b router.
the Proxim 11a's are the same price for over 4 times the backbone bandwidth.

I posted about this in the 802.11a article a few days ago but here goes again.

Does anyone know of a 11b access point that has mesh-router functionality? The 11a stuff is nice,
but in order to do a WIFI network the cost is too much. However it will force 11b prices down, so if there is a 11b mesh-router available, we could see residential networks become possible.

After taking a quick look, it now seems as though both proxim and enterasys products do the same.
Does anyone know if there are 802.11b access points that do this as well?

Once 11a products flood the market, it should make the 11b access points become dirt cheap and
if they have multipoint routing, we could see community wireless nets become a reality.....

And that is where we start to differ. You will find many of us on both sides of issues like abortion, however we all pretty much agree it should not be a federal issue. Myself, I am not against environmental laws i.e. toxic dumping etc. But believe it should be handled by the state or county. I would favor limitations on corporations, i.e. shortening itellectual property laws to three or four years or thereabouts. Labor issues should be dealt with by organizing unions, etc just like it started out with in the 30's The basic premise is not to do away with all government, just shift the power closer to the people..... Anyone else?
