sorry i know about the nokia already
(forgot to mention it in the last post)
but the nokia will be WAAAY too expensive,
like 999.00+ for a 11b router.
the Proxim 11a's are the same price for over 4 times the backbone bandwidth.
I posted about this in the 802.11a article a few days ago but here goes again.
Does anyone know of a 11b access point that has mesh-router functionality? The 11a stuff is nice,
but in order to do a WIFI network the cost is too much. However it will force 11b prices down, so if there is a 11b mesh-router available, we could see residential networks become possible.
Hey this will be great! We'll have an id and facial data on everyone and then using faceit software, we can track all the cyber terrorists secretly. I have an additional suggestion lets slap the SSN on everyone's forehead as a barcode. Then the camera's can scan it, and verify you are the correct person.
I have been looking forward to the nokia rooftop
router because it allows non line of sight installation as part of a multipoint meshed
wireless design. (Too costly though);-(
After taking a quick look, it now seems as though both proxim and enterasys products do the same.
Does anyone know if there are 802.11b access points that do this as well?
Once 11a products flood the market, it should make the 11b access points become dirt cheap and
if they have multipoint routing, we could see community wireless nets become a reality.....
Mine eyes have seen the eagle, body bloodied, feathers torn.
Head bowed in sorrow and remembrance as he mourns.
The clenching of his talons and the vengeance he has sworn.
The Eagle will fly on
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
The Eagle will fly on
Through the fires and the bloodshed you can hear the call resound.
At the altar of redemption, we will gather all around
Taken up across the country, heavens shaken by the sound.
The eagle shall fly on
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
The eagle shall fly on
You can hear his cries of fury ring from every mountainside.
His shriek of fiery justice will no longer be denied.
He will strike the bloody-handed for the innocent who died.
The Eagle still flies on
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
The eagle still flies on.
With Golden eyes of judgment and a beak of blackened steel
To avenge the wrongly fallen, he will heed their last appeal
He will fly unto the wicked and bring them all to kneel.
The eagle still flies on
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
The eagle still flies on.
He will rise above the maelstrom, he will soar upon the wind.
He shall fall upon the guilty and reward them for their sin
From the ashes of destruction he will rise to fly again.
The eagle shall fly on
Anyone doing this in Arizona?
I have been thinking along these lines myself.
As a matter of fact I have been involved with
the City of Mesa's initiative called "Electronic Streets" which is trying to encourage broadband
in the last mile.....
I would like to slap some fiber/copper from
house to house, and in areas where you would
have to cut streets etc, run wireless.
I would say give the game out for free,
then try and charge a SMALL monthly
fee......
It seems about the only sure way to do it considering the bandwidth you would be chewing up.
(I may be able to hook you up with some serious bandwidth if you are interested.)
There is also one other possible way to support your game without fees, which may or may not work.
if startup capital is limited,
I would say you look into re-selling
the higher end service (DSL, dedicated circuits etc) from the local telco.
I'm not sure about the climate in Australia, but
becoming an agent here (USA) can be worthwhile.
If you are in a higher density area, look into
cutting deals with local apartment complexes
as well......
Unions did not just appear in this country.
On the contrary there was ALOT of violence perpetrated to keep unions from forming.
Go back and check the history books.
It always takes brave people willing to sacrifice to make change, and this is how it will be done if the third world is to improve.
That said, if I was working in one of those sweat shops, and they fired me because the american consumer felt bad I worked too hard, it would really piss me off....
These people are fighting to make enough $$$ to survive and feed their children. If you want to make a REAL difference, find an organization trying to start unions over there and support them. That is IMO a much more realistic solution, and one more likely to create results.
Yes the pay stinks compared to here, but how else
do you think they will raise their standard of living?
Do you believe these countries can just magically raise their minimum wage to something on par with the US or Europe?
Face it, the only way the third world will improve its standard of living is in incremental steps. As people better their lot they will demand more political say (and have more economic power to do so)
First,
take one or two days off like a friday and a monday. (just so you are not maxed out on vacation days)
Second,
Put in your request for a REAL vacation at least
2 weeks! I would say 3 is better. Then, CYA!
Ask to hire a temp under contract if mngmt shoots this down, put the recommendation that they hire a
temp in WRITING!! Perhaps giving it to HR to file.
(How far you go in documenting this need depends on the paranoia and Cover your ass factors where you work)
Then, GO ON VACATION!!!!!
You must ask yourself if you live to work, or work to live.......
If your answer is the former your priorities are wrong IMO.
P.S. have FUN on vacation
We are fairly united on the federal issue, i.e.
severely limit the fed's power to only those things mentioned in the constitution.
All other powers are reserved for the states and the people. And that is where we start to differ.
You will find many of us on both sides of issues like abortion, however we all pretty much agree it should not be a federal issue.
Myself, I am not against environmental laws i.e. toxic dumping etc. But believe it should be handled by the state or county.
I would favor limitations on corporations, i.e.
shortening itellectual property laws to three or four years or thereabouts.
Labor issues should be dealt with by organizing unions, etc just like it started out with in the 30's
The basic premise is not to do away with all government, just shift the power closer to the people.....
Anyone else?

The Land of the Sheep and the home of the slave.
Welkommen!
Papieren Bitte!
I got chills the first time I heard of the OHS.....
But hey this time we use barcodes instead of
primitive tattoos, and everyone will get one.
My only question is, who is Darth Vader?
Ashcroft or Ridge?
Chenney must be Palpatine

The terrorists will have won. Period.
Punish the terrorists, not the citizens
otherwise we are only paying lip-service to
freedom.
Also, I have written a song about this horrible
event. It is called "The Eagle Still Flies on"
it is in MP3 format on Gnutella etc.
God Bless
Like I said as soon as it happened,
bye bye civil liberties.......
Sung to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"

Gee, sounds like you would have fit right
in with the sheep in Nazi germany.......
"Papieren Bitte!"
Once this kind of crap starts, IT WILL NEVER
stop.......
They are GOD GIVEN rights, IE you are born with them and they CANNOT be taken away.....
By your logic, the American revolution was unjust.
The goal of society is Mutual respect for its citizens. I respect your right to life if you respect mine, etc.
To try and suspend these rights does EXACTLY what the terrorists are after!
Better we stop playing policeman to the world.....
I have been wondering the same thing,
if they were "smart" terrorists a little anthrax
in NY would go a long way......
wanna bet we get a suspension of our
"inalienable" rights?????
If only I could download a whole series of say
X-files rather than Pv-r I'd glady keep the commercials in them.
;-)

Anyone know of some open source distributed processing software?
We probably would invade but......
;-)
your population is the wrong color.
(No I am not racist, but our foreign policy
seems to be)
That and IMO we pretty much control the parts of your infrastructure that matter to us. I.E. echelon.
Oh yeah and you don't have alot of natural resources we need
On the bright side, just petition to become a state and I'm sure we would do it. (Plus we'd pass out lots of cool guns!! HEH HEH)

Yep,
but do you think boycotting will help? If anything it will make the unemployment and poverty worse.....
The only effective way to solve this is through workers unions IMO

It sucks, but that is reality......
DON'T take E-Rate money from the FED...... Or if you need it, use it to get the cabling, router, and servers then drop the program. ;-)
