chroot() and other sandboxing methods? Works by ensuring ALL programs are private. Apple do it on the iPhone OS. In the later case, private data like the contacts in the address book are accessed via an API that allows reading and writing.
With the recent 15" refresh, I was surprised to see the RAM upgrade from 2GB to 4GB was actually reasonable (about what I'd pay online), but that's the only generosity from Apple I've seen. 4GB to 8GB is still more than a low-end Macbook(!) here.
I find that I rarely need a numeric pad, really. When I do, it's for macros in a game. The Macbook/Pro keyboards look a bit lonely on the laptops, though, with large areas of nothing:)
The bit about hiding models you aren't looking at is bloody prior art in every real 3D game before, anyway. It's an obvious optimisation technique!
This is just like computer patents taken to the next level. When there is prior art in the real world, you add "on a computer" to the patent description. Next step would be "on the Internet" when that isn't enough.
What will the next thing be - a patent application for "online rendering of blue models"?
It makes sense that way, too. Companies which produce commercial software are in the business of producing software. Open source companies are in the business of support, so they would know their stuff.
I have 250GB. Nearly every new laptop is sold with 250GB+ here (except Fujitsu-Siemens and Apple, with their stock of 160GB drives:). 320GB is also pretty common, and Acer are going nuts with their 250GB+250GB and 320GB+320GB laptops.
I'm poking around on my laptop with GrandPerspective, trying to figure out why the hell I have only 125GB left. It sure is easy to waste space these days:)
10000 apps since the AppStore opened in July, and the devkit has been available in a less perfect form since March. (It has been less of a bitch to work with more recently, though;)
Apple do have a bug database which also lets you suggest improvements. Enter an enhancement request. Don't whine here, just tell the makers what they should improve;)
There are developers within Apple who agree with your complaints, and they suggest the same. They want your suggestions as ammo for their talks with the higher-ups.
Microsoft take 70% from most Xbox Live Arcade sales (unless you can talk them into less), so it's not unreasonable. Apple approves an app in days or weeks, while MS can spend half a year in the worst case (and always at least a few months).

This again shows that I was right about the need to extend the period for legal abortion by about 20 years.

Mr. Coward revealed the truth - there are only 150000 adults in the world!
I just block Bulgaria, China, Taiwan and most of Africa. Partially because that's where most of the spam comes from, partially because I'm an asshole.
Thank goodness for efficient filters+great bandwidth at sites like Siteground, though.
Twitter is IM without the targetting. I need a browser filter to strip out anything twitter from pages I visit :(

Yet that one track mentally scarred all right-thinking guys who got dragged to the movie by their girlfriends ;)
That's the sort of thing I use Scrivener for:

Mac only, though. But very nice.

Preview in OS X does fullscreen, too. It's called "Slideshow" in the menu/toolbar.
I guess it means "lumpy", like grits.

Why would installing Ubuntu mean that they store files locally? Networked storage wasn't invented by Microsoft.
So does that mean Apple will have to pay this moron for Objective-C's documentation?
Yeah, I am more productive in the GIMP than Photoshop. Seriously, why aren't PNG export options just a sub-function of "Save as" in PS?
The mods are also on crack, obviously. They have serious problems understanding your use of emoticons.
You can train yourself to hold images. Just stay out of traffic when practicing.
This is the original definition of "visualisation".
They didn't invent it, but after some "gentle nudging", they HAVE given back to the various projects.

You can do just fine with a new iPod touch. That's what I develop on. I think the touch is cheap for a fancy music-PDA.
You're just making it sound like a sweeter deal :)

Wouldn't it be easier to have a background task update the USPS prices, and just use the last working snapshot?
