Maybe a bit harsh (at least the death bit!), but yeah, it's really crossing the line when people decide to keep using an illegal copy professionally because "they don't like the price". Even while bragging about having the money!
I like it when developers have cool payment models, like GarageGames. They've recently gotten the Houdini folks on board, with an amazing $99 offer. That's a very capable 3D package, available for Windows, Linux and 64-bit OS X. You just need to be an indie, earning less than $250000 a year.
SoF wasn't fun more than once, but the NOLF games are among the top FPS-style games I've ever agreed. I second the wish for more originality like that. I miss exploding poodles.
There should be a ban on WW2 games from now on. The last game we needed was Company of Heroes. We're done now. It's great, but let's have a new theme next, please!
I doubt ANY transcoders execute code in the streams. If they go from one video format to another where both support some sort of scripting, it would just translate the instructions to the new format, not run it. Not that there are many formats beyond MS formats and perhaps Real which do more active things..
Put down your braille keyboard for a moment, and ask a friend to model a user-created Spore creature with Play-Doh or something. Now put one hand on that model, and if you're male - and equipped with two hands - the other hand over your genitals.
I've ordered some programming books from Amazon recently. Not only were they cheaper like in your case, but the shipping was less and quicker than I expected.
I just bought the game from the UK, and the drums locally. Think I'll wait for cheaper competing products before I shell out for a full band kit. From what I hear, the stores here got sick of waiting and did their own import, because the UK already had it. The release date was set to after Rock Band 2!
Yes, lots of open source tools and libraries are used under the hood on OS X. CUPS, Apache, PHP, OpenSSH, Python, Ruby, OpenAL and I think also Samba are all included.
You still need to verify that your games are legal the first time, and Steam will randomly poke the servers even in offline mode to let you continue.
Yeah, that was also my reaction. Working at Valve could get any fundie suicide bomber to postpone heaven, from what I've read.

I'm in a third group there, I think..I will try the demo when it lets me launch in a widescreen resolution of my own choice ;)
I'm already keeping an eye on Galaxy Rage.

I haven't seen copy-protection on Mac which embeds itself in the OS like SecuROM does on Windows. Yet. I'd wait for reviews, since this is EA.

Do you get it now?
That's why I order one shirt at a time - it ends up cheaper per shirt, even with shipping!

Piracy is pretty fucking widespread in Scandinavia. Haven't seen MS respond with significant discounts :/
Taxes are still not 130% on top of the RRP ;)
We still pay the same for the English version..so the hell it is localisation!
I searched for my own name, and there's far too much WoW crap there :(
Give it time, and they'll catalog my other crimes..
But Cuil doesn't need that extension..what's your point?
I know people who pronounce it "goggle". Don't underestimate the great unwashed masses :)
Of course they have! And the law shall apply to the entire world!
A quick search revealed a bunch of companies. Here are some:

http://www.ipkall.com/
http://www.freedigits.com/
Those are free services. The last one seems to have problems, though. :)
Paid services exist, too. Just google it
Other countries would not accept that. The Swedish data inspection law is being stopped because the rest of the world doesn't want any of that crap.
God? No. Cthulhu? Yes.
Many astronauts are also not mere farmers picked up due to their good health. They have a little scientific understanding.
That sounds like superstitious nonsense. You can't summon a spell checker just like that! Not on Slashdot, anyway.
Maybe he's played Fallout 2.
