Perhaps "way of developing software" is BSA's codename for kernel.

They forgot to mention that all of the sites had the same broken links to servers that had only porn popups, not warez.
And wow, it sure took them a long time to figure out the "codeword" for pirated software:)

I've worked for computer support in the past, and I can tell you that there are some key things that consumers should do to get good support:
Make sure your cables are all solidly connected (this includes the power cable) before you call.
Know what kind of computer you're using, and the version of your software.
Describe your problem clearly and succinctly. We can ask for more detail if needed.
Don't get upset if I can't answer your problem, or if we can't send you new equipment without being thorough. We have strict policies that are in place to protect against people who are trying to cheat us.
Of course, most of these shouldn't ever be necessary. But with support centers being as understaffed as they are now, and pay being so low, these are the tips that will help make your support experience more enjoyable.
About half is payed for up front. And things like lobbying, FDA approval, advertising, etc are probably included in the cost reported here from the industry side of things. The last paragraph is also pretty interesting. "Probably they paid taxes." Well guess what, a lot of corporations don't pay any tax. Paul O'Neill wants to extend that to every corporation.
show me the money, friend. i report the facts. the government pays the drug companies for most research. most of these companies don't even pay taxes. prove to me otherwise.
Planned Parenthood (and many other organizations) use a sliding-scale model for sale of medical goods and consultation, etc. Most people are honest, it turns out. Restores your faith in human nature.
the US government pays for almost all of the research. Then the drug companies whine and moan about how they need to "recoup" their development costs. Actually, the development cost is mostly the marketing, lobbying, purple food coloring cost. Drugs should be free if you look at the fact that we already pay shitloads up front with our tax dollars. Very little research is independent of the Government, and we pay a majority of the cost of all of such research.
And stop drug companies from direct advertising. Save a lot of money right there for the poor little drug co's, and save a lot of people from pressuring their doctors into giving them treatment that they actually don't need.
Your library probably offers you free access to the transcripts. Database software like Electronic Library and ProQuest often have gateways for library customers that can be accessed online for free, as long as you have a library card. I know that TOTN and other popular NPR broadcasts are available through both. Go to your library's website and check it out.
you can disagree with the police about their understanding of the laws regulating them. Frankly, police officers violate the law all of the time. It must come from being in a position with so much authority.
nice idea, but our justice system is not meant to catch people who "might" steal a car. How long before if someone has a genetic predisposition to theft, we lock them up from birth?
In Amsterdam, every time they dredge the canals, they find hundreds of bicycles.
In a country like Nederland or Belgie, where there are hundreds of bicycles on the streets at a time, theft is not unexpected. In the US, car thefts are the larger problem for the same reason.
This is entrapment, plain and simple. The police should be in the business of preventing crimes, not getting people to commit more of them. How about a good public transportation system? How about providing rewarding work for these people? Give them a reason to live. It may be true that many car thieves are repeat offenders, but having a tendency towards committing crime is not the same as committing a crime.
Why would anyone pay for an ebook though? right now, the format is a lot crappier than print. reading a book online also sucks. i bet his print sales would have increased if he allowed it to be printed and sold in traditional venues.
It's called a living wage. It's a growing movement that bases a minimum wage on the actual living standards.
Have you tried MySql Navigator?
And in Europe, yes, Linux is much more popular. A number of people don't want to rely on an American company for their OS.
And wow, it sure took them a long time to figure out the "codeword" for pirated software :)
No, but I bet it's Turing complete.

The Cult of Rand is far worse than the cult of Marx.

PS - "Marxist" is a pretty unintelligent insult.

It's the secret to creating wetlands. A waste byproduct of mining.
Gotta love ALCOA CEO turned Secretary of the Treasury.

The guy already knew Debian -- he was looking to replace his broken Debian configuration. He sticks with the OS he knows.

cops think everything that they do is legal. doesn't mean that they're right.
Are you from pittsburgh?
This is clearly some form of entrapment.

Where is the line between art and pornography? Once there's a .porn tld, does that mean that all porn sites need to have a .porn domain name?
Ghettoization of ideas that make us uncomfortable -- can be dangerous. With nekkid pictures and hate speech.

I have no sense of humor. I admit, I still don't see that the comment I replied to was joking.
