Your assumptions could be considered unreasonable in the state of Pennsylvania... we have a rather rural area in the middle of PA called the "T" that has thrown votes in the past. The reason is high turnout combined with late (near midnight) results. Other states have similar anomolies.

In the case of self defense, they have to prove accused has to prove it was an action of defense, or the prosecution has to prove malice (depends on if you are a pessimist or optimist in your views of the courts.)

Not being sane, or acting in self defense in these cases also doesn't make you less guilty, but rather less punishable. In the case of thought crime, something unprovable beyond doubt is what goes on in your head in regards to your emotions and thoughts at the time. They can send you to a head-shrinker, but you cannot witness against yourself (5th amendment), and the shrinker cannot testify against you. (Doc-pat privilege)

I must assume you mean arson-related deaths. If a firman is killed in the line of duty, and the fire is arson related, the fireman died as a result of the deliberate actions of an individual. If the person is convicted of arson, they will also be responsible for the charge of wrongful death.

The legality has nothing to do with liking or disliking firemen.

Both are too common these days, thanks be to the age of marketing.

Just because technology allows the exchange of kidi-porn to now be done anonymously in near real time doesn't mean the abused kids went unharmed. Just because technology makes it easy to copy CDs doesn't mean that copying other peoples' CDs isn't theft.

I've seen the needle and the damage done / A little part of it in everyone

I suppose Mr Young was right.. The damage is done no matter if you can get it electronically as well. It could very well mean that a potential abuser would be turned off or would have no need for abuse. The converse is also possible, and the person wants to get "tactile" in the experience instead of looking at pictures. Nobody wants to think of it, so the topic is usually shelved.
