I am currently subscribed to a service that seems to operate on the same priciples... wireless internet @ "164K/s"... odd number, yes... must have some wierd overhead... but I digress
The modem used is a serial modem... serial connections can operate at up to (IIRC) 112K/s... ok... so not quite what they advertise, but it is twice a 56K....
I've been to several bandwith testing websites, and none of them have rated me over a 33.6 connection. So overall, I am dissatisfied with the service. I'm approx 1 mile from the antenna, and get full reception according to the software.
Don't get me wrong, it's not worthless, and for really rural communities, it could be very good, but this is NOT a replacement of any other broadband services...
I have a Gateway Celeron 450, with ATI Rage 2xAGP, with windows 2000.....
the first thing I'd like to point out is that it's actually windows 2000's fault that the card can only mirror, instead of extending the desktop. On the other hand, it does mirror, and works wonderfully at that, and I can push 1600 once I turn the LCD off. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming, but I do watch DivX on it quite often.
I can definately back this guy up... I run VNC from my home computer (256k cable modem / win2k) to my school computer (it's a college.. actual bandwidth varies, but on paper it's dual T1 / winME)... it's much more responsive and smoother when the server is on the higher bandwidth, albeit both are very usable, and defiantely beats driving 50 minutes because I forgot to email the newest.cpp file to myself...
This makes lots of sense because you have to download all of the screen data, but only send mouse data...
I do have to use 8-bit, however... it is VERY slow when trying to use any higher than that
I have a friend in College right now, and she has an undiagnosed disease(the doctors she's seen have no idea what it is... imagine advanced arthritis), which causes her tendons to tighten after 10-20 minutes of typing. This means that she has been forced to use voice recognition software to type the papers due, and as a History and Lakotah (Native American Language, FYI) double major, she has a lot of typing to do, yet she can't get her voice recognition to type in Lakotah.
does anyone out there know of any good, cheap keyboards like above, or any organizations founded to help out struggling college students in need of help like this? because there is no diagnosis, she is not qualified as "disabled", so she can't get help like that
BUT.... if you spun it around the top of the bottle, then the bubbles would come towards the top of the bottle, like if you grabbed the top of the bottle, and swung your arm around....
spinning the bottle around the y axis (the long axis) would not have much effect, because there is no gravity, and not enough friction against the inside of the bottle to actually get the beer to rotate.... though the thought of bubbles gathering at the center of an object is extremly interesting, it would require a lot of effort, or slight modifications to the inside of the bottle
it's a lot easier if both browsers would follow guidelines.... I don't like "Exploder"... but Nutscrape is(was?, don't know about 6 yet) absolutely horrible, and the bane to my existance while putting together layouts. This was partially because the designers weren't very adept with HTML, so they designened in dreamweaver, and I had to make sure it worked in every browser...
for every time I've heard/seen that disclaimer.... "be careful of the french"
The motors have to be able to convert heat->energy to move...
i.e. heat activated, the hotter it gets, the more it cools!!!! Can't get more efficient than that?!?!?!?!

no... for ALL things, 2821 supercedes 821...
there are some things not covered in 2821, but that doesnt mean that 2821 doesnt supercede 821
the worst ones are the pages that have a bit of html in them like this:- email.jpg">
<img src="http://we.spam.you/php-script/fean-reads-his
so all they have is a PHP script sitting there, recording who reads the emails.... its impossible to stop on web based email systems....

actually, Andrew Johnson was NOT impeached... good old slick willy was the first pres to be impeached...
what's the old saying, the 10/90 rule?
where 90% of the wealth is held by 10% of the people...
something doesnt add up.. if they have 90% of the wealth, shouldn't they be paying 90% of the taxes???
I know that's unfair, and very extremist, but I don't think it's unfair to them that they pay 67% of the taxes either....
