  1. All I wanna know. on From The Australian LinuxExpo · · Score: 1

All that I wanna know is, have you met the Crocidile Hunter yet?

  2. Already happening in NC on New Federal Government Stance on Internet Taxes · · Score: 1

They are already taxing internet sales in North Carolina. You are supposed to determine the amount you owe and enter the number on your tax return. The scheme they are using is horrible. You are supposed to check all of your recipts for the year and then figure the amount of tax based on what you spent on the internet or mail order at out-of-state companies. And for those of us who don't keep all the receipts there is a chart which gives you a flat fee depending on your income. I can see a lot of people using either the flat rate or 0 just to make it easier. I really don't think anyone is going to take the time to go through all their receipts. Then there is the fact that they are assuming that if you could not have spent the money on the net then you would have spent it in state. Sorry, wrong. Most of my net purchases where because I was unwilling to pay the inflated prices around here or could not find the product I was looking for. So if I could not have spent the money on the net, then most likely the money would have went in to savings or investments.

The tax system has got to change, and until they are willing to do that, the net should be tax free. It is apparent that the governments want that money very bad, do they want it bad enough to fix the system?

  3. Is this actually a good thing? on Free Be · · Score: 1

After first reading the headline, I thought this was going to be great. Free Be! But then after reading all the info, what is this "launching BeOS 5 will be as simple as double-clicking an icon on the desktop." I don't want BeWindowsApp, I want BeOS. I really like Be, and I hope that there will continue to be ways to update the current OS as well as this download. Maybe I'm panicing, but this could be a very bad sign. At the very least I hope they open source it, rather than let it die.

This item from the FAQ really worries me.
"Q: Will Be continue to update BeOS?
A: Yes, we plan on continuing to develop and release new versions of BeOS."

Why even include this? If not for the fact that they have already considered stopping development.

  6. Interesting sites on On The Transmeta Patents · · Score: 1

This is kind of off topic, but interesting none the less. I have stumbled upon a couple of interesting web sites. The are almost exactly the same as the Transmeta site, the only difference being the name of the site. The HTML source has the same comments as well. Other than that they don't appear to be related to Transmeta. Does anyone else have any ideas? Here they are http://www.cryogen.net and http://www.linuxlinks.org

  7. Original Austin on Review:Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me · · Score: 1

I too was not really impressed with the first Austin Powers movie the first time I saw it. But the more I watched it the funnier it got, I worked at a theater at the time so I watched it a lot. I still haven't decided which one I like better yet, Scott and Mini-me made this one great. And regarding Heather Graham,... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
