This looks like its related to windows default 'simple mode' where it hides the extentions of 'known' file types (i.e. *.exe).. So if you call a file 'evilvirus.bmp.exe' Windows will hide the exe extention and to a luser it appears to be a graphic file. -Lovely, VB, etc.. etc.. Is there any way we could make Windows *more* virus/worm friendly?
Hmm.. Maybe he opened the package because he knew what it contained - Could this all be an elaborate ploy for attention? Perhaps Jeremy Paxman is the mysterious culprit who had the enigma stolen in the first place?
about freedom of speech, is that everyone is all for it as long as its speech that does not upset them..
I say you dont make ugly problems like facism go away by trying to hide them in the dark - Shine the light on them and expose them for what they are. Stupid.

Hey, I'm not one to defend CNET - But this is just a report on the idea of integrating this functionality into Mozilla. So why not flame/sue the flamers? They are the ones getting their panties in a bunch over this issue, even though it is NOT a Mozilla focus.
Of course the 'media' is going to pay attention to this story, for the same reason that featuritis creeps into most projects -its 'cool', and sure it would be cool to have *Fully Functional* office support, but thats NOT the way they are headed right now. --------------------------------------
Ever heard of Sony? They make hardware & own record labels.. And they're not the only one - Economies of scale (may) make the general population purchase a nifty little digital music player with SDMI (whatever that means to them)- Hopefully you will still be able to buy non-SDMI hardware, and truely have a CHOICE.
Shamoon remains on the sidelines, working to create a system that he thinks users, recording artists and the record labels will all choose not because they have to, but because it's better.
Uh huh.. Right. So give me the choice between a SDMI and non-SDMI protected digital audio player and see which one I choose.. Exactly how is SDMI going to improve music from a consumer point of view?.. I can see why record labels would love to fall for the myth of 'Secure' digital music, but I for one don't want another layer of interference, or software to muck up playback compatability.
You can pick up a blank 32meg cartridge & a pc interface with software from here.. Looks pretty cool - Although I have not personally tried it & Its $73 bucks for the kit...This is just for "game backup" purposes, and does not have any creation tools.
I just recieved my MPTRIP - Cool! Just threw in a MP3 cd and pressed play.. 14 HOURS OF MUSICAL GOODNESS- Now I could rip all my CD's, but its much easier to download them..
Self Regulation is a non-story... The 'industry' has been talking about self-regulation forever.. Thats where we are today.. We'll see how much good this 'agreement' does us.
..These assanine moderations happen - Wheel mice. Yep. I believe that some people moderate something, then try using their wheel-mouse to scroll the page down and continue reading comments, not noticing that because the drop-down box for moderation is selected, they are scrolling through moderations that they never intended to give.. Of course it helps if you're drunk as well...
.. I think I'd prefer a higher resolution, or something that could capture video clips, like this mini dvd camcorder -Something you can get a decent still out of (1280x960), capture video, and holds gigs of data..
Why is the NSA 'visible' now? They have a public relations office, public museum, web page.. Why is it no longer 'No Such Agency'.. Do we have replacement 'non-visible' agencies that are better at hidding?
Um.. One thing -Napster is a filesharing application that utilizes files stored on the users hard-drives, not on a central server.. So how do you go about charging for this, and If I am paying to access Napster, why would I share files from my computer? Why waste the upstream bandwidth? Do I get payed 'rent' for the storage of those MP3s? Do I get a discount based on how many files I have made availiable? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against charging for music, but I dont thing Napster has the right set-up to do it.
.. One is 'legit' - You can buy CD's online, plan your vacation, look at adds for furniture and cars.. The other is 'underground' - The more stuff like this happens, the larger the 'underground' web gets -Just take a look at napigator - If you are under 13, you may not legally visit this site, due to COPA.
The more ridiculous these laws get, the more people you drive over to the 'underground' web, and most dangerous of all -An assortment of rediculous laws, takes away respect for laws that do make sense. And more and more children are growing up in this world -If you were 12, would you stay away from napigator, because it is ILLEGAL?
I've got to say I lose respect for these laws and institutions by the day -I want to update my old vinyl collection to something that doesn't have scratches - Why can't I legally do this without spending a ton of cash to some corporation I've allready given a ton of cash to? --------------------------------------

Well now, maybe if YOU were born with a silver spoon in your nose, YOU would prefer to eliminate the Inheritance Tax as well.

Now why didn't they go REALLY classic and do them in an old Atari 2600 style?
Is that Abraham Lincoln or Rodney King.. Oh. Wait, I think thats Tienemen Square.. Yeah..

I hate -- absolutely HATE -- NTSC...it is just aweful and I am still amazed we tolerate it daily.
I can tell by the context that you don't actually mean that NTSC fills you with awe
But what about John Carmacks Brains?
