    The summary makes it sound like fat clients are a bad thing. The web is not an application platform! HTML5 efforts to the contrary, it's just not designed for it. A well-written fat client will behave well even when the network is down or slow. Most web apps become useless, if not outright unusable.

    You are misunderstanding.

    The mandate could have been structured as a tax with a 100% deduction given to those who have insurance. It's the penalty paid to the government that is a tax, not your insurance premium.

    Asimov was writing about physical harm. Moglen is talking about financial or emotional harm (depending on what info is leaked and to whom). There is no practical way to incorporate the First Law to prevent this kind of harm. AI doesn't exist.

    On either device, HD needs to be scaled to be full screen. Given that the Transformer only needs to scale (full-HD) in one direction, it would probably look worse.

    There is nothing at all stopping you from

    A) Including your own license. Apple's does not apply in this scenario.
    B) Including the source for your app and making it available via iTunes.

    The sticking point would be the DRM that prevents redistribution of the binary.

    Only an asshole could think that Apple not making source available is somehow to be taken as a huge negative thing that is morally wrong. Unless Google Play is different, it's quite possible that any GPL'd app is also illegal. Does Google Play include the source for such apps?

    I recently (in the past couple weeks) replaced the battery for my 2005 Macbook. Old one wouldn't hold a charge anymore. ~6.5 years on a single battery is pretty good in my book.
