You are a fucking idiot. Actually, this is slashdot. You've probably never fucked anything but your hand.
This is different because the official campaign has been working with him from day one. This isn't so new site that became popular overnight. As usual, a politician stole from a citizen who he is supposed to represent. In *that* sense, there is no news.
This whole story is just another proof that only a dead and dismembered politician is a good one.
Candidates spend billions on campaigning. What the FUCK do you think they spend all that on? Asking for money is the only sane thing to do in this situation.
That's beside the fact that numerous posters already explained that he isn't extorting anything. $49k for a good portion of 2.5 years of work is cheap. Do you think the rest of his upper-level campaigners are working for free? They may not be getting cash now, but you better believe they expect 6-figure salary jobs in the Administration when he's elected. That, or government contracts or some other form of power/money.
Aiding and abetting the enemy in times of war is one of the few crimes actually mentioned in the Constitution. Regulations against providing sensitive information to others makes perfect sense.
Censoring other communication is for the same reason as any other censorship: hiding the truth. It is quite clear that the Administration does not want the opinions of the men on the ground to be known to the general public. It's bad enough from their point of view that no one outside the Administration has *anything* good to say about how the war is being conducted and what the chances for success are. The last thing they want is for people with first-hand experience telling the world that Bush couldn't lead a Boy Scout troop, much less a war.
And in typical slashdot fashion, you demonstrated that you are a fucking idiot that shouldn't breed.
The GP's complaint is that the behavior changed between versions. His complaint was not that he is unable to learn the new behavior. A UI that breaks expectations is broken. MS established a certain expectation over a period of decades, and then broke it. That was the complaint.
Even by the most rabid extremist estimates, inaction will not cause such devestation until well after my projected life-span. So, I for one, do not care.
The lack of a death penalty is a crime against humanity. Humans are the only species that will protect the most dangerous members of the population. Only the most stupid people in the world think that putting down a rabid dog is necessary, but putting down a thinking human that purposefully murders people is evil. Compared to life in prison, death is not a punishment. That's not the purpose of the death penalty. The purpose is to remove dangerous members of society from the population. This is because it's far more important to make everyone safe than to not feel guilty for killing someone. Those against the death penalty are too afraid of taking responsibility to promote the safety of their own people.
It's a sad testiment to the complete hypocracy of the idea that there is an intersection between those who support war and those who oppose the death penalty.
What is wrong with not providing legal benefits to gay couples just because they want to live together? Giving benefits to those who bare and raise a family makes sense, both socially and economically. Doing so for anyone else makes no sense what-so-ever.
I run Windows XP on my desktop, and I shut it down whenever I am done using it for a spell. However, I don't reboot it; I use hibernate. You really should step into the current century. Windows has had hibernate support since Windows 2000.
I know that you had to bash Windows because you're a typical/-hole poster, but the fact that Windows won't reuse the libraries in this instance is a feature, not a bug. I believe the change occured with Windows 2000, but Windows *used* to check loaded modules, ignoring the path to the module, before loading another copy. This caused one half of the problem known as DLL-Hell. Now, Windows will only reuse a loaded module if the path to the newly requested module is the same. This allows for applications to ship their own versions, which may be incompatible, and have both applications loadable at the same time.
The word Direct is 6/7th of the name, and it actually has a meaning. Abstracting DirectX from the hardware is exactly what DirectX isn't meant to be. Seriously, I didn't even have to think about this to come up with the realization. Why not think a little bit before posting stupid things?
They may say you're guilty, but they won't be able to convict. Unless, of course, said cracker *also* figures out how to store the downloaded files onto your systems.
Innocent until proven guilty is only a legal concept. It is perfectly normal to believe that someone is guilty based on the flimsiest of evidence. People do it all the time, and will probably never stop.
Japan accepted the most refugees from the Holocaust. I know, personally, many people who went through Japan on their way to the US to escape Germany. Japanese no more dislike Jews than they dislike any other foreigners.
Palestinians are not a race. Palestine was never a nation. Palestinians are Arabs. There are millions upon millions of Arabs in the Middle East and elsewhere that Israel has never targetted for any sort of aggression. The only Arabic targets of Israel have been those that Israel deemed aggressive for one reason or another. And yes, in some cases the "aggressive" Arabs were just trying to defend their homes. But that's a far cry from attempted genocide. Israel is a tiny landmass compared to the rest of the Middle East. There is simply no way that protecting its borders, or even creating its borders, could be seen as a genocide.
Except, of course, that making the Palestinians into some kind of martyrs makes Israel look particularly bad. Why do none of the Arab nations do anything to help the refugees except by providing them with weapons and suicide training?
I would say it's the fault of Catholicism more than anything. For some reason, the Catholic church has hated sex since its inception. It's probably because Paul couldn't get any unless he raped women. However, violence has always been sanctioned by the Church.
You don't see it reported on slashdot, but there is actually a push to get more men into nursing. This is not because of a perceived idea of gender-equality, though. It is because there are instances in nursing where men would be better. For example, the average man is stronger than the average woman, and that comes into play with moving patients, or even just moving equipment. Having more men around to do those things is useful. Also, there's the issue of modesty. Many male patients are uncomfortable with the idea of females examing certain portions of their anatomy.
Almost noone willingly relinquishes power of their own free will and desire. Thus, only constant complaining and criticisms of power grabs cause the ebb and flow you talk about.
"Yes, definitely, if you do it without permission. While making a print of a print should be ok as long as you don't distribute it, modifying stuff in random ways can really hurt the artist's reputation so big no-no there."
It's perfectly legal, moral and ethical to draw funny mustaches and horns and a goatee on the original, so long as you own it. Doing whatever mutilations you want to a copy would be even more so.
Is there a stupidity test required for posting on/.? I don't think I'd pass.
"Most cut-and-paste in KDE (in my experience) is handled by the default X implementation. As such I've always found it to be far superior to any other OS; on the other hand KDE can't take credit for that so its not really an advantage/disadvantage either way."
Please explain how the X clipboard is in any way superior to the Windows implementation. In Windows, I can copy something, highlight whatever I want to replace, and paste the stuff I copied. For that lack alone, the X implementation is perfectly stupid. The Windows clipboard sanely manages multiple data formats in a way that apps can do what is expected. With X, you never have a clue as to what will happen between two apps you've never tried to copy'n'paste between before.
I did the same when I had to send a laptop in for repair. I didn't ask. I just shipped it without the harddrive inside. I didn't have any trouble at all. It came back repaired. I did not want to risk having the drive formatted or "lost" or replaced.

You are beyond stupid.

The "don't RE" clause is completely unenforceable. Even the DMCA allows RE, and it's certainly not a copyright issue.

Umm, that non-government group is very much a part of the government in Lebonon. Idiot sh**-hole.

Not to be too pedantic, but you most certainly *could* say so. :)

This was with a Prostar.
The problem is that Diebold will be spending tax-payers monies on this. Or do you think the State will be defending itself at no cost?
To be fair, the RIAA is going after people they suspect of *not* being customers.
