"Palestine" has never existed as an independent state. The area of the West Bank under dispute belonged to Jordan until 1967. They have since relinquished their claim to the land. "Palestine" cannot be fighting a war for existence no matter which hat you put on, because "Palestine" has never existed. The Arabs in the West Bank are Arabs, not "Palestinians". They have never had an independent nationality, and many of them hold Jordanian citizenship.
