  1. Craziness.. on U.S. Works Up Plans for Using Nuclear Arms · · Score: 2, Interesting

The posts I have seen so far are completely rediculous to me. They contain catch-phrases such as "Bush Domination." A lot of these posters fail to face reality. The nations listed have a vested interest in destroying the USA. China wants Taiwan and the others are self-evident. The second part of the article just explains that Bush wants to develop SMALLER nuclear weapons to use in tactical situations (i.e. to use on cave conplexes akin to those found in Afghanistan). These tactical nuclear weapons are far less destructive and can be used in smaller areas to reduce the amount of unintended deaths. I see this as a good thing personally. I think the slashdot community is going to take an anti-defense/anti-american stance on any controversial issue without even thinking about the ramifications of said issue. Please think this out rationally without resorting to the typical anti-american knee-jerk reactions.

I actually bought a version of PGP Personal Security 7.0.3 from these guys. It comes with some nice extras such as a very nice firewall. It's a shame that not enough people contributed to the development. Hopefully they will open source the latest version so that development can continue for long after one year.

It always amazed me why China connected to the public internet anyways if they are going to censor everything except the stuff _they_ want their citizens to see. Wouldn't it have been much more efficient to build the network and not connect it to the public internet? All they would have to do then is place information on their network they want their citizens to see. In any even, it's pretty screwed up.

I still don't understand why slashdot links to anything on The Register. They have proven time and time again that the stories posted on their site don't reflect fact. I think slashdot links to them becuase most of the time the stroke the ego of the open source/linux zealots.

Your extremist views pretty much negate any thoughful comment you had in that post, and that's a shame. There is a big difference that I pointed out in my original post. Email sent here in the USA does not have limitations on pornography (look at all the porn email now, although a lot of it constitutes spam), violence (unless it's a threat toward someone specific), or any idealogical/religous/cult thoughts. That isn't so in China. Sending a lot of emails we send here in the states would be illegal in China. Putting China's screening techniques on the same level as the USA's once again shows your liberal bias. Remember, it's easy coming up with complex conspiracy theories. Backing them up isn't so easy when they aren't true. That's the easy way out.
