    One of the ways that piracy hacks come to be is people hacking the hardware to install Linux or some other random thing

    They allowed other OSes on their system, and look where that got them.
    Some hacker decide to exploit that feature to root the box, putting their revenue source via games at risk, potentially screwing up their attempt to get back in the black.

    Not to mention Sony will get a very bad rep if the PS3 ended up a good way to ripe Blurays.

    PS:mod me down if you want, I'm just saying what's on my mind.

    I'm also an Archmage, and really sick of invisible Witch Elves dropping me before I can even cast one instant ability, thanks to stun + silence and obscene DPS.

    Seems like kind of a waste to me. I mean they have all the necessary features to make it a usable PDA. A good screen, a working on-screen keyboard that's good enough to text message with, and probably enough CPU power and memory. Why not add PDA functionality?

    What is wrong with Rage's lighting, it looks to me the environment and characters are lit the same way. Wasn't that what the Doom 3 engine was about? No more using vertex lighting on characters but lightmapping for the environment.

    Then why do you have to "solve that again". So it's an incomplete solution, you are free to build on it. No? Even if not, every bit of information helps.

    Or you can use Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) if you want to use an open sourced client. It has tons of features to manage torrents of course, but it runs on JAVA. I have no problems with it speed or memory consumption, but I suppose it depends on your machine and personel preference as to what is acceptable.

    Thanks to the parent and the grandparent. Using shift appears to work, still I wish there was an option to permanently toogle it to using a new tab and maybe get it to load in the background.
    The "reuse tab" option works, but there are side effects, now all my bookmarks load in a new tab too instead of the current one. >_

    Allow context search results to open in a new tab. This is the default behavior in Firefox. It allows me to search something I don't know then go back to the original page without waiting for it to reload.

    JC: They are both powerful systems that are going to make excellent game platforms, but I have a bit of a preference for the 360s symmetric CPU architecture and excellent development tools. The PS3 will have a bit more peak power, but it will be easier to exploit the available power on the 360. Our next major title is being focused towards simultaneous release on 360, PS3, and PC.

    Why do alot of people exaggerate the price of games to $100? The original words from the press release says, don't be surprise if it's not less then $60, but it's unlikely to hit $100. It's not as if Sony can control the price the game publishers charge. If they can keep the price down on the Xbox360, they probably can keep it down on the PS3.

    I wanted to try out linux to see what it's all about.
    I tried the LiveCD for knoppix and ubuntu. Auto hardware detection and/or config crashes both of them. I tried googling for solutions, but after a couple of hours and half a dozen reboots I gave up.
    Linux just doesn't like my hardware.
    I was wondering can't it just ignore hardware it doesn't know how to deal with. Like time out if the configuration is taking too long, and go ahead with the rest that it can handle.

    I don't thinking anyone is going to read this late comment but what the hell.
    I not sure anyone here has heard about it, there is a free winamp plug-in mp3 decoder call MAD, which can be used to replace the default decoder that comes with winamp. In my opinion it produces great/better quality.

    The latest is 0.13b, but you can try the prelease 0.13.1b pre1 (which I'm using now) at :

    this one doesn't come with an installer, just place it in your winamp plugin directory & disable the default mp3 decoder.

    Robots are electronic equitement nothing more. They won't have feelings, that is unless we design them to have. Their purpose in life we can dictate because we created them, we can control what they are incline to do/choose, if we can't we shouldn't be creating them at all.

    I'm not sure if I should relpy to this, but Jurassic PArk is fiction. Robots ain't dinosaurs, they are electronic equitment, we manufacture them. They don't have DNA they don't mutate that easily. Sure things we make malfunction once in a while, but we live with it, all we can do in increase quality control & install some safety features. 2nd life DOESN'T always find a way. Ever heard of extinction.

    Should not happen, unless some one fouls up. They have no reason to kill us. We kill other animal, occupy their habitat, because of our instinct to survival. Now since we create them can't we just "program" to look out for us (humans) instead of looking out for themselve, in short put our happiness & life over their own.

    Well, make it crude then, photorealism gives level & game designers more flexibility which is good, they can make things more beautiful or as ugly as they like. If they feel the crude look is best in a certain area they can do that.
