If you're serious about wanting to understand why texts were included in the Bible and why we believe what "god says" wasn't misquoted, perhaps you should pick up a good book regarding the cannon of the bible.
We Christians don't deny that meanings can be lost in translation, that's why we study the original languages as well and scrutinize that. Can you think of any book in the world that has been more closely scrutinized on translation and meaning? There isn't one. The fact that humans speak different languages doesn't invalidate the original meaning of the text.
If you didn't read my parent post, you might think that. Are you familiar with the word "context"?
The point I have been making is that no matter what he does, he will be berated for it. Oh, by the way, when he DID use the veto, he was called partisan for it. He was called "too stern" and said to only see things in "black and white". Please tell me I'm making all this up.
If you put what I said into the context of the discussion, it IS a contradiction. The representatives are elected by the people. It is NOT his job to assume the people do not like their representatives.
Wow, just because you disagree doesn't make this a flame. So, if I agreed that Bush was bad, then I would get an 'Informative'?? Wow, this place has lost it.
Bush is accused with not working with the Dems and of being partisan - but when he refuses to veto the bills that make it to his desk, now he's not divisive and partisan enough.
Come on guys. No matter what he does you're going to find fault.
I'm sure I'll peak back once in a while, but this site has become worthless. I used to come here because I could read things here sometimes a year before it hit the mainstream media... but between the slow-to-be-released stories, the duplicate posts, and the apparent move towards anti-America stories - it's time to remove Slashdot from my "Favorites".
This isn't posted to inflame. Just telling it how it is. Editors need to take note. From talking to friends, I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. As another voice gets modded down... the site will continue to lose it's appeal.
Read my posting history. I'm not a troll. I'm a dissatisfied customer.
I was thinking of signing up with Netflix, but this business decision changed by mind. I give my business to companies who appreciate their loyal customers. Obviously Netflix isn't one of them.
Initally the low usage was enough to make it worth while. No one was tarrgeting it so who cares? Well now it's getting popular, and the bugs are rolling in. It's not a bad record at this point, but it's enough I want to see how it develops.
You seem to be confusing "bugs" with "malicious attacks". The bugs were there all along, regardless of the number of users. What you need to be looking at is whether or not the number of exploits is increasing, which it does not seem to be at this point. One reason for this? Quick fixes.

"Evolution predicts that simple, valuable features will evolve independently, and that when they do, they will most likely have differences not relevant to function. For example, the eyes of molluscs, arthropods, and vertebrates are extremely different, and ears can appear on any of at least ten different locations on different insects.
In 1837, a Creationist reported that during a pig's fetal development, part of the incipient jawbone detaches and becomes the little bones of the middle ear. After Evolution was invented, it was predicted that there would be a transitional fossil, of a reptile with a spare jaw joint right near its ear. A whole series of such fossils has since been found - the cynodont therapsids."
Please read the first paragraph, and keep it in mind when reading the second. That being said, notice the second paragraph mentions a pig, and then uses a reptile as a transitional animal for that pig('s ear development).
This sounds to me a lot like word-play hogwash on the part of the author. (pun intended)
I admittadly could be wrong, but judging by what is written about the first show in Wired, it looks like they have a political agenda right out of the gate which leans left. I hope they present all sides of the debate equally.
No troll intended. Isn't this Off Topic? I mean the whole posting is not related to nerd stuff, just privacy laws. Doesn't Slashdot focus on digital (computer related) privacy? How does this tie into the theme of Slashdot? Am I missing something? Thanks.
You seem to be comparing this invention to *new* inventions. This technology isn't new, just it's application. The reason to be scared is that people can take existing technology and manipulate it relatively easily and cheaply for bad.

Perhaps they should invest some of this energy into tracking luggage?

A dupe from the same day? Wow, I'm really thinking of deleting my bookmark to this place.
Went to download an upgrade bittorrent.
I was a bit surprised that the download for the upgrade didn't have a bittorrent option. Isn't that ironic? or did I miss the link on bittorrent.com?

I've noticed that voice commands seem to take more energy than pushing buttons. Why present it like it's an advancement?

That "journalistic ethics" will somehow be lost if The New York Times were to go away.
What a claim! LOL!

One more reason to hate Comcast. I hate them so much I could spit. They need to be put out of business.
