If there were an infinite number of monkeys typing on an infinite number of keyboards would they eventually produce all the works of Shakespeare? Not exactly - they would produce them immediately (as quickly as a monkey can type).

Not only that, but they would produce them an infinite number of times over and over.

  7. Jump.. and here's why.. on Where Should Company Loyalty End? · · Score: 1

I recently was in the same position.. Except I didn't jump. I stuck it out. The reason was because the managers played mind games and made you think that being unloyal to the company was something personal. Don't think of it that way.. It shouldn't be.

Here's what happened to me.. The company ran out of money. The management kept it a secret. I assume to protect moral. The president of the company screwed up. We walked in one Monday, they said "Bye, That's it." we walked out. My paycheck bounced, and on top of that they still owed me for about a weeks worth of work that I had done. That was back in November. I still haven't been reimbursed for my bounced paycheck. My checking account was in the hole a couple thousand, my bank wouldn't let me cash checks I had gotten from contract work, the company hasn't paid me for the other hours yet, I haven't gotten any word on my W-2's and the president of the company is missing. Her kids don't even know where she has been for the past 2 weeks. Some other employees and I think she was snuffed... We did have a little funding, but from the wrong type of people..
Cover your own butt! I'm sure your friends that work with you are going to do the same. Unless their stupid or have been brainwashed about loyalty.

  8. I don't believe it... on Whistler "Anti-Piracy" Tools Tie OS To Machine · · Score: 1

Microsoft made piracy of their products easy on purpose... So they could control the market! It worked too. I think they still know this and will continue to let people pirate with ease. They make a big deal about it with hologram cds and stuff, but it's still easy to pirate. I have a friend who works for Microsoft's tech support. They told him to give out product key numbers if the customer was having problems with theirs, and if the tech suspected piracy, to just help the caller the best they could.

I've been getting 100mbps for a while at my home for about $45 / mo. I could get it for $20 but I wanted a public IP address. The company basically runs cat 5 underground right up to your home and puts optics where it's needed. Right now my whole city is wired for it and a few of the surrounding cities are being worked on for it. They also have a cheap plan for industrial areas. SwitchPoint
