With the few I've dealt with (IBM, Compaq and one other I can't remember), the CDs fdisk one big partition onto your HD, format it, and copy a pre-setup copy of windows onto the HD. It's not on the HD because I put new HDs in all three machines;)
Heck no. More FPS IS good, if only because it decreases latency. But I (and most other serious gamers) can easily tell the visual difference by 60fps and 120fps just by sitting down and flicking the mouse.
Actually, the majority of people DON'T respect Microsoft. It's just that they think they have no valid alternatives. And for a lot of them, it's true - it's gonna be a long while before my parents are using Linux, even though they despise windows. They don't know much, but they do get pissed when an hour of writing just dissapears because windows decided to take a dive right before they saved.
Why the hell is this an innovation? Logitech makes: Corded ball mice Cordless ball mice Corded Optical mice Cordless Optical mice And they kick ass... So where's the innovation?

By the end of 2001 the Athlon will have passed 2ghz and once again be spanking Intel. The P4 has to be good NOW, and it's not...
Actually, your Duron is most likely FASTER than the P3 at most tasks. The only disadvantage is its smaller cache...
Plus the fact that dB aren't purely linear (+1dB = 3X as loud)

Because it's more trouble than it's worth. *sits behind his IPMASQ firewall smiling*
Sci-Fi writers also predicted steel clothes (Jules Vern), among many other retarded things.
Well that's a shame because it does :)
MicroSoftNBC is what it is - a joint venture...
And 99% of the people here are "hacker-macho" so that's fine. Just like, say, a debbuger doesn't need a fully standardized UI.
Toms has some benches showing a Duron 600 or 700 whooping the arse of a 900mhz celly :)
