Reading the.web proposal application, I see there's a bit about watching out for copyright infringement, etc..... What I would love to see is a sort of a ".not" TLD, where copyright laws simply don't apply. A pipe dream, to be sure, but it would nice to be a place where the government would guarantee the right to parody, mock, implicate, and point out the faults of various corporations, etc. Insure our "fair use" policies, essentially. And, hey, apparently there haven't been any submissions for.not to ICANN (not that anme, anyway). Any lawyers out there want to take up the charge?
around where i live ADS is the name of the company that distributes the free local newspaper. are they now trying to conquer the earth by low-jacking everyone, in a kind of Dr. Evil stylee?
actually, without wanting to sound modest, i am a good quake player (having won many rounds on the internet), so i don't run around blasting rockets left, right and center. I actually prefer to play something like CounterStrike for HalfLife, and other similar things where you actually have to hit the person and are rewarded for something like a headshot with them dying instantly, rather than blasting a rocket at someone, or vaguely near them on the wall/floor to knock a bit of energy off. Which do you think requires the more skill?
i don't see what the difference will be, i mean cos everyone just goes around with the rocket launcher anyway. the only thing i can think of is that instead of being in a complex map, the fight will be in some kind of "arena." sounds exciting.
The most sensible thing in the article by far is the minimum font size in the web browser ! All web browsers should have this. Tiny fonts suck!
Looks like they've paid some attention to the look of things this time. An improvement to be sure, as KDE1.x,in my opinion is butt ugly. The icons they show in the filebrowser are really nice looking, crisp with good colours and still identifiable.Colorful but not garish. The same for the toolbar icons. The overall color schemes cried "Aqua" to this observer.
Kudos to all these guys for putting all the work in to continually improve their offerings. I don't really go much for the Linux desktop environment thing, but I know plenty of people who wouldn't think of using a computer without one. The KDE and GNOME teams are doing a really important job
But having mentioned toolbars, the spreadsheet screenshot was ludicrous ! Half the real estate seemed to be taken up by icons and toolbar widgets ! I assume these can be turned off.(GNOME suffers far too much from chunky button syndrome as well). Toolbar buttons are fine for quick shortcuts guys, but they take away space from the application itself.
yeah, that's a bit of a problem
