Yeah, this one is also sometimes mentioned on the Mentor mailinglist. Already have a test-install running, but in essence requires deciding whether I can afford to buy a palm

By accident I found their website myself while waiting for this story to be published. I agree: looks impressive and seems to do what I want. At the moment, however, I use Mulberry to read my mail and are not yet ready to give up on that piece of software. I also would like to prevent to (again??) become attached/hooked on a specific piece of software (implies ... back to pen&paper?) although the windows aspect is probably not a problem.

I will consider it once I've decided on and free'd up money to buy a palm. Must say that I'm seriously considering this option.

I will check it out, thnx! Must say, though, that from the demonstration on their website it seems as if the software takes the task scheduling really literally and that's one step to far for me. I'm satisfied with a piece of software that decides what I should do today (based on priority and deadlines, in essence) not so much when I should do them ... It is the logical extension nevertheless.

Yeah, you're totally right and I'm still considering that option. But it has two downsides IMHO: a) Lugging around a floppy disk with your Mentor data b) No access to your data if you don't have access to the emulator (which is probably very likely). So that seems to imply a PDA or web based solution.

I would certainly check it out. Debian still is my favorite server distro, but I find it lacking in the automatic(!!) support of new(er) hardware. It all requires a little more knowledge and time than I'm, personally, willing to spend on (any) linux setup or linux box.

IMveryHO distro's like SuSE, Mandrake and Redhat (although I've never used recent versions of the latter two) will be what will open the mainstream (home computing) market a little more. Just because they are little easier to install and, after that easy installation, look a lot flashier than something like Debian, which requires a lot more work to look fancy.

I know of one university in Holland (that of Nijmegen to be specific) that has a course called GIP house (for something like Integrated Programming IIRC) in which a full project sequence is ran (with the full complement of Quality Assessor, Project Management and programming as a team, etc.).

Students in their first year CS take part in the programming team, in their second year do a bit of project management, etc. And, BTW, these are full, real-life projects that have to be delivered and meet a deadline. No simulations what so ever.

Even in Holland I believe, this is a rather unique concept that seems to work quite well (although I've never done the course myself; I didn't do CS).

I can't find links for all the parts of the course but a description can be found here (Dutch, Babelfish probably needed; look for a link "colleges", upperleft grey box, then in the small print column on the left look for GIP4)

By history this might be true, but, on the other hand, ever since WWII the situation seems to have been reversed! Black ghetto's, street violence, drug wars to name a few problems. And I don't believe that the living standards are that high anymore, except for the rich and famous. Nor do I believe anymore that the American living standards are that higher than the European ones.

Although America still seems to be the country of unlimited possibilities for those with an education, I sure wouldn't like to pay a tenth of a cent to every American citizen without a decent education! IMHO Europe seems to be an equal of America; both have their own pro's and con's.
