we live on a planet with finite resources. Normally, those recycle themselves. But human influence is severely hampering the ecosystem: we are introducing massive amounts of poisons into the foodchain, most of whom are non-biodegradable. Sustainability just means we are saving our own (our childrens) asses.
Wait, you are saying we are better than Nazi Germany.
There's a difference between being better and telling everyone continuously that you're better than the other. (and thereby annoying the hell out of the non-USA part of the world)
because we can produce PTFE (teflon) by the tonne; in high quantities, in high concetrations; we can choose to produce it or Not; there will always be wasp poison.
high temperatures and the phthalates are released.
are phtalates released only at high temperature? or does high temp just increase the rate of release ? the way I understand fysics, even an I-beam releases iron into the air at room-temp, due to backgroundradiation, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
this is why http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registration,_Evaluation,_Authorisation_and_Restriction_of_ChemicalsREACH is so important. from wikipedia : "There were 100,106 chemicals in use in the EU in 1981, when the last survey was performed. Of these only 3,000 have been tested and over 800 are known to be carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction." So, only 3% of chemicals in use by man have been tested for environmental and health safety.

that's because 'global warming' is a badly chosen term. the average temp may go up, but lots of places are going to get colder, hotter, drier, wetter for longer periods.
In the 1970s there was increasing awareness that estimates of global temperatures showed cooling since 1945. Of those scientific papers considering climate trends over the 21st century, only 10% inclined towards future cooling, while most papers predicted future warming
I thought Windows was secure. Why not use that? *cough* *cough*
I thought OpenBSD was secure. Why not use that?
I thought DOS was secure. Why not use that?
sustanability is eco-hippie bullshit

THAT Guy bases his calculations on 140 windmills over 55 km; which is ridiculous. and 20Kwh a day is a ridiculously high figure.
Commercial 18m
currently, windmills of 2Mw are being installed everywhere. those have 80m diameter, So that 18m one is a very small one.
based on very little evidence. I think that is especially how the media often sells stories.
Really ?? I can't believe my eyes. /sarcasm.
this is called 'Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung' in German and warmte-kracht-koppeling in dutch. see also Combined Heat and Power or CHP.
No. But i don't trust the USA either.

errr... that's the basis for a lot of 'misunderstandings'. Maybe you should read 'Mein kampf', and join your local KKK-chapter, or another local sect.

Or did you forget your sarcasm/funny tag when you wrote every
No, what I actually meant was manmade/massproduced
gamma, IR, UV ?
Determining whether or not a compound is carcinogenic in humans is extremely hard
I still find every chemical must be tested thoroughly before bringing it into the environment, our livers and kidneys ar feeling the strain allready.

My sig should tell you : I can't accept people NOT accepting the possibility that we can affect climate.
No, i was trying to debunk GP, which i did.
your claim has been debunked. before. lots of times.

hordes of laymen or non-climatalogist scientists who keep shouting about it.
like 99.99% of slashdot-people ?
maybe now, the last 2-3 years. Did you make the same argument the 20 years before that ?
