    don't blame them. Blame GM, Ford, VW, BMW, PSA, Toyota. I don't find it surprising that, all of a sudden, various car-makers are developping electric cars and fuel-cell cars, ... why couldn't they do that 10 years ago? I am waiting for those a long time now.

    Personally I don't see why the EU can't just be a trade zone

    I suggest you read some history, count the number of wars in europe BEFORE and AFTER the foundation of the EU (the European Coal and Steel Community, 1951). The rest is 'filler'.

    my collection will eventually be obsolete what exactly do you mean by that? If you mean that they aren't the shiniest,latest NewThingToGet(TM): you can always go back to comparing d%ck sizes. If you mean not being able to play 'em anymore: that can mean 2 things : 1/dvd broken: has nothing to do with there being Blurays. 2/new players can't play the 'old' dvd-format, which also doesn't compute, because blurays CAN play DVD's.

    In my opinion, 'faster' depends nearly entirely on your connection. In that light, there are other things to consider choosing a browser. In my case the 'noscript'-extension dictates my choice for FF.

    that 'study' is VERY light on actual references. It looks like a pamflet of the NRA. On the other hand it is an interesting read. Anyway, I don't change my opinion on guns in my country : anything bigger than a handgun: Illegal. carrying a weapon on the street: illegal - guns are made to kill, nothing else. It should be very hard for criminals to obtain a weapon.

    "If (I'm not, but *if*) I was a suspected terrorist, I'd take 42 days maximum in a standard UK jail Problem with that statement : there's NO CHARGE NECESSARY. This is BAD BAD BAD! A cop can just take you from the street and lock you up for 42/28 days without anyone asking why(like a judge ...).

    , it seems rather, well, moderate. WHAT ??? Such laws are the BASIS of a dicatorship. You can be jailed for NO REASON, without compensation, for 42 days ! In my country, you have to be charged with anything, before 24 hours are passed after you have been taken from the street. This law gives too much power to the police.

    yes, but if you buy a firearm with the explicit goal of reducing your risk ... and by buying the gun you increase the risk, something smells fishy.
    how many crimes have been avoided by the wide availability of guns vs. delta risk ?

    number of american deaths in Iraq since war begun: 4000+ (!)
    number of Iraqi deaths since war begun : 1000000+

    MY advice to the US: attacking a country is NEVER a good option (like, say, installing Saddam, and later trying to remove him when he doesn't give enough oil ...)
