The price is in the same ballpark as iPhones and the Galaxy line, at it is comparable in specs to those phones. It doesn't appear that price is a significant factor.
Sorry, you failed marketing. With nothing much to distinguish it, obviously price is a significant factor in people not buying it. Certainly true in my case. I bought the Nexus 4 for $400. Pixel 1 started at $400, I would have bought it if my Nexus 4 wasn't still working great. Now the Nexus 4 needs to be replaced, but $800 for the Pixel 2 takes it right off the list, no further analysis required.
I am interested to know what Nokia's new flagship will come in at. Other things being equal, I would be willing to pay $600 for it. Anybody who wants $800 from me for a phone can piss up a rope.
For what it is worth, I am not a Red Hat analyst or employee, and I am quite certain that open sourcers command higher salaries on average (and are more skilled) than bespoke-only coders.
GCC counts tab as 1 char when reporting errors, which can make it slightly harder to coordinate error messages with exact file position in some cases. That is the only issue I ever run into when using tabs. However, the advantages of tabs far outweigh that little difficultly, so in any project where I set the style, the style is tabs. And incidentally, the style for Linux kernel (the largest of all open source projects) is tabs.
Heh, you are a card, you are. Quit your day job, you will make it big as a comedian. As if it is not already a fact that Linux is by far the most installed and used operating system in the known universe.
Oh yes it will. 1) Own the phone market 2) Own the cloud "office as a service" space 3) Cloud users adopt offline office apps running under Chrome and Firefox with V8 (compatible with cloud services and not giving a fuck about docx) 3) Microsoft shrinks and dies 4) Everybody parties and Russia can't hack
Full idiot. Technically, Linux is better for games than Windows. Higher framerates, smoother update. Vulkan sealed the deal on that. You actually can run a stream and a game server at the same time without hitting oral/anal inversions like Windows gets. (Yes it's true son, check out the frequent reports of game lockups when streaming on Windows.)
There is exactly one thing that prevents some titles from getting onto Linux: illegal trustmaking activity by Microsoft. And that last bastion of Mordor is starting to crack. In the mean time, there are way more games including AAA games on Linux than I can possibly make time to play, and I don't give a fuck if your favorite game isn't there. Sorry. If you feel that strongly about it then run Windows, you deserve it.
the one thing I do that I currently cannot really do on Linux or virtualized Windows is gaming.
1) We must live on different planets, because on the planet I live on, Linux has more games than I can possibly make time to play, and they work great. For example, Doom is super sweet. Dota2 works great. Zillions of great indy games from Humble. Zillions of games from Steam. Most Windows titles work fine on Wine these days. Vulkan is the icing on the cake... performance out the proverbial yinyang.
2) Windows virtualization on Linux is, roughly speaking, perfect, including GPU virtualization. If you're too lazy to configure Wine then use VMware.
I thought Facebooks user experience always sucked. It's just that the real lives of Facebook users suck even more, so they stick around every day gobbling the poop because at least it tastes better than pile of shit that serves as a miserable excuse for a life. Oh, and can you please tell me what your pet ate for dinner tonight?
Modded down by someone who really wants to believe that the reason they spend all their free time and much of their employer's time on Facebook has nothing to do with having a shitty real life.
More like, Apple's social engineering squad pounced on the opportunity to smear the competition. For something that happens even more to Apple devices no less. Color me negatively impressed.

The iPhone really isn't that expensive compared to other things people regularly spend money on.
Yes it is. BTW, did you hear that Apple owners tend to keep higher charge card balances than owners of other brands?
Who downmodded that? Apple employee much?
Actually the OS is designed in California, then modded elsewhere.
Actually, Google just mods Linux and slaps their brand on it, quietly failing to identify the real origin.
The Google Pixel phones are also very nice although they haven't sold that well in their first year.
Could be something about the price, dur dur?
OK, did a quick catchup on your blog. Item one is a kernel patch. Tabs. Should I read anything into that? :)
I agree that this discussion is stupid. Just do what you feel is best and try not to preach (except when absolutely necessary...)
We do have bigger fish to fry, which is why I wonder why you felt it appropriate to weigh in on a tabs vs spaces thread.
The safest thing to do is thus to only use space for horizontal spacing.
You do that, Bruce, and I will continue to operate my projects the way I feel is best, which includes using tabs.
Not implying anything, but what have you coded lately, if anything?
a Red hat analyst might be biased

It doesn't rule the desktop and it never will...

...there's still lots of games which are unplayable in [either] vmware...
You're making that up.
And for gaming, it isn't. Full stop.

No, but you can't claim that Linux is just as good as Windows then, now can you?
Oh wow, you got me! You're right. Linux is way better than Windows. Waaaaaaaaaaaay better. That's why it rules the world.
I don't care about your gaming faves, I care about mine. Sorry.
Ooh, looky here, a special snowflake with mod points was triggered.
I don't care about your gaming faves, I care about mine. Sorry.
Something ain't right.
True. Microsoft is teh shrink. Rats jumping off. Couldn't happen to a more deserving gang of thugs.

3) Nice troll.
It's about pathological online behavior, it involves technology and it is interesting to me. Screw you and your special snowflake world view.
lolwut?
You brought that, and don't feel bad, size doesn't matter.

This writing shows the bias here...
I shows that Apple's shitposting squad rivals Vlad's.
