Didn't Mr. Ford and other manufacturers prevent a little known company (Tucker, I think..can't remember) for creating a car that would "revolutionize the industry?" I'm sure US. Conspiracy buffs could better fill in the details.

In anycase, companies are starting to get a little to antsy about protecting their rights without actually looking at the code. I mean isn't that inventing is? Creating a product that is better than the original without infringing upon other peoples ideas? This sounds like a kickass idea but once something comes out that could threaten the marketshare of company, that company releases the lawyers. Perhaps stiffer fines in the US should be imposed if a threatening letter is sent unjustifiably. That would knock the wind out of a lot of these orders. Fight the power Michael!

This seems a little odd but the way I thought of it is this. If I spend years upon years of hard study and research of an ancient language and translate it for everybody to read, then I should hold the copyright to my translation. It is my work after all, and if others wish to make their own translation of it, there is nothing to stop them. Simply simply copying and pasting my texts into a book and then selling it for profit is pirating my research. The scientists who are making all the fuss DID not even ask for permission to use the text. That would tic me off a little bit as well.

Sure it would be. Go into your profile and change the billing address AND the shipping address. Replace your name etc. I'm sure they have more interest in selling continually update(current) records. A marketing company could not afford sending junk mail to an "old" address.

The only way that they could detect this change is if it triggers somekind of alert. (note: Changing ones name to jacka$$ might be a bad idea)

My girlfriend sends me a big fat check every month but mailing the damn thing with a .33 cent stamp adds up (I also live 15 miles away from the bank with no car). Since we both have the same bank service I was planning on us both signing up with Paypal and she can just send me the money. HAS anyone had any problems with Paypal and their service? One thing though, what stops people from being frauded out of a buck or two? I mean you could pull a Barnum and Balley gallery of freaks on your webpage and charge a buck entrance. On the other side you could just have crappy pictures that you just found on other websites like the National Intruder or such dirt magazines. What is going to stop these type of rogue websites from appearing? You could also bypass any laws by putting a disclaimer right before you Paypal your entrance, by simply saying "No refunds". Most banks are also insured against online fraud so if somebody nails your account you are only responsible for a certain amount of money (Citibank I believe is like $50). If you get hard then THEY have to suck it up and deal, and I don't think that muli-million/billion dollar companies will idley sit by and watch themselves lose money!

The reason why I loved "the Matrix" was that it both broke the mold of chop shop movies by reinventing the wheel of effects so to speak and it carried out a kickass plot. I think everybody I know, upon viewing this film, fell down the spiritual "rabbit hole" themselves.

I'm the idiot responsible for spilling on my own self and will suck it up and deal. I ate a Chili's last weekend...I ordered beef Fahitas that came still cooking in the pan. Oil was splattering everywhere. The waitress cautioned me that it was hot. I therefore did not purposely stick my face into it. IF...If they fell on my hand, why would I sue Chili's? B.) The teddy bear analogy is pointless and comparing Apples and Oranges. Your reasoning skills obviously need work as well so please do not criticize mine. First the baby did not accidently suffocate itself in that case, and thus the parent is liable for murder. This is not even close to spilling hot coffee on your self. If you spill it, it is an ACCIDENT. If you cut yourself with a knife while cooking dinner. It is an ACCIDENT. I don't immediately turn and sue the knife manufacturors for failing to tell me that the knife was sharp. That, I hope you will agree, is simple silly.

C.) You have an obsession with death: "kill a small child with" is very silly and has no place in your argument. Little overdramtic? Oh NO! What about the CHILDREN? Justice was not served.

Manufacturors should not be held liable for stupid things people do. You have heard about the lady that sued a microwave company because she thought she could dry her cat in it? Please.
