And I thought it was a story about the latest developer release of Vista. "Ooh Ooh Ooh. Monad shell too hard for my brain. Leave it out! Ooh, Ooh Ooh".
When compared to Microsoft it seems as if it is only trying to maintain its identity (as France is with the US).
But when Apple knows that it has the upper hand with a smaller entity, it can be ruthless (as France is with its former colonies and less powerful members of EU).
As a general rule, anytime I upgrade to the next version of any OS, I have been grateful when it did not slow things down, despite the vendor's claim to the contrary.
It has been my experience that most lower income
residents are not as interested in the internet, or anything else that requires a fair amount of reading. Entertainment, on the other hand is a priority for them. It would be instructive to
study how well they are outfitted with TV's, video games, stereos, and other such entertainment equipment. I am not judging, just saying it the way that it is.
Yes, and now you are dealing with a company that is effectively BOTH a software and hardware monopoly (to its users who are too loyal to switch) , and behaves accordingly.
I would rather deal with the beige beast than the
auqua beast in Cupertino. My experience with their customer relations dept is that they have little other than contempt for thier customers. Sure their hardware is sexy, but you are also stuck with their hardware monopoly too.
Why would anyone seriously put any effort into IP "optimisation" at this level?
Well I suppose that this person could have a very specific kind of traffic
that might benefit from an optimisation algorithm. And if that study is for something
like wireless, a small savings could matter a lot if it is consistent.
and totally skip over the specifics until the last sentence in the jump section on page 14b.
If anything, as much as the maintream media jumps on M$ for its business practices, it too is caught in the "Microsoft is Computing" attitude in that any M$ product vulnerability must be industry-wide.

That's exactly what we want the Birkenstock crowd to keep thinking as law by law, day by day, the Bush railroad keeps chugging along while you take a nice big bong-hit and laugh bongwater though your noses at Bush's supposed ineptness.
Other factors could make a much bigger difference

only when programs start or finish.
People may whine about how some students might try to "stifle" speech on campus today
Your comments were insightful, but it does show your disrepect for views that differ from your own when you use the term 'whine' to describe a legitimate complaint.
Berkeley has been recently the home of fascist anti-free speech tactics lately by today's crop of intolorent students who are wonderfully open-minded to every point of view that they are in full agreement with. As for Netanyahu, Connorley, or Horowitz, these people and their views are deemed worthy of a violent gagging that would make the KKK proud.
I don't need a billionaire to tell me that Global Warming (rebranded as Climate Change) is a racket.
... especially when non-technical people are in charge of this process. One can't map short term deliverables properly to a creative process.
Yeah it got old for me when every other story was about Bush = Hitler.
I find the singleton scene in my area to quite static for some reason.
Who is going to be there to beat them up, you know, give them wedgies and swirleys?
I hope this is what they meant by Osama Bin Laden's "burial at sea" and that is why there are no pictures ;-)
1) It comes from Microsoft
2) They expect you to pay money for it.
