Hmm. I was sure it was this summer, oh well.
Then someone should phone Philips DK and tell them that their commercials for their CD copier on tv is telling people to break the law:-)
--------
I have seen some radio stations use MP3 for broadcasts. Let's hope they have the originals. I can see why this is an advantage no need for searching through a database to find a song and then go and find the actual CD. --------
>It is illegal to make digital copies og digital
>products, which is hard not to do
No, that law has been changed, you may now make a digital copy(providing youre not breaking any copyright law of course).
Was a fine example of how lobbists work to make stupid laws to fit their(companies) needs.
The fun thing was that at the time when that law still was in effect, Philips was running comercials on TV for their audio-cd recorder(copier). If you used it you were(at the time) breaking the law.
As many already has said here, there are a lot of reasons why this information is no more usable than what is done today.
I could mention one too, large companies where branches in different countries go through the company WAN to the HQ for internet access.
If you are lucky you can go down to country level,
and that information can evnen Apache get out from fx. MSIE(you know, the LanguagePriority directive), assuming that people have set it right, but at least itdescribes their preference.
I have seen a couple of Novell clusters. I don't quite know how they fit in the picture. They all run at one time and are online. if one server fails, another server can take over the users and server programs(mail server etc.). The users normally won't see anything except that services freezes for 1-3 seconds.
Oh well, they are doomed anyway:-)
I know, I just wonder how it could happen twice so close to each other, one should think that they would have a lot of attention on the subject after the first time.
Of course if it was years ago, then most people would lower their guards and relax a bit because they needed a "wake-up-call".
And it cant be easy to be a favorite hacking object.
We all know that most people here on./ enjoys a good M$ bashing when they get the chance. Sometimes the subject are a bit questionable and not really good material for it. But if the article are correct, then they have really asked for it this time.
Now for mine. A company that size with so many users depending on them, have a huge reasonability in keeping this from not happening. When it happened the first time, they should have the resources to make sure that it doesn't happen again. Don't tell me they can't divert the manpower needed to solve this. Let's see the list of posts grow as usual, can we go past 500.:-) [extreme bashing on]If they cant secure their own network based on their own products who can.[extreme bashing off]. ah felt good.:-)
But somehow I doubt that it will affect anyone's decision about running their software. No impact at boss level, I'm afraid. --------
This will by the way also be the only way for people in Denmark to connect to sega.net since there will be no local dial-up point in Denmark.(Guess who feels cheated).
Local people can read the press release here(In Danish, sorry).
The only explanation given is that British Telecom had "problems".
So if you want to connect your DC, the solution above is the only way to go.
So they lied in the store when they promised that the internet part would come, now I don't want that infernal machine anyway. f... sega.
--------
Except that he is using a modem on the Linux box for the DC to connect to. Which should make it possible for a lot more people to pull this trick rather than if they had to open the box and hack it.
So in terms of speed it is a bad thing, but a good thing if you don't want to destroy anything. --------
2) Server clustering - this is failover stuff, and distros can do this much better. Most people call it something like High Availability. But you are still likely to teak it up.
I never really seen number 2 as a cluster solution. But wasn't that the first NT "cluster"? I think it was because MS called their failover system a cluster at that time that people started calling a failover system for a cluster. I might be wrong, but it's just my impression. Oh well never mind.
--------
After the Y2K media hype, I think that(the media) will get a hard time making a doomsday issue again(sorry you have to find another angle to attract viewers/readers). People will just say,"hey, look at that Y2K thing, nothing happened"
Of course the difference here is that with the Y2K thing, a lot of time and money was used to prevent it, not just monitor it.:-)
--------
My setup goes from 71 with low action down to 31 with many players visible, which is fine for me. I still manage to be in the top 3 on most counter-strike maps(I know, it's about teamplay:-) )
I'd like a higher fps, but at this point my CPU is the bottleneck and I'd rather spend my money on something else.
--------
That's what you want. Make as many people as possible to make your site, their default page in their browser.

Yep sad but true.:-)
I have kinda given up on Novell now. I am sick and tired of hearing from all different Novell 3.12 customers that thinks that the next logic step is NT and all those stupid people at sales that don't give a f... about what would be best for the buyer, the just always sell what know can't hurt them.
No one gets fired for choosing Microsoft.
Yeah, I upgraded my CNE from NW 4 to NW 5 because it was (kinda) easy, but I think it's the last time I'll be doing that.
The only thing I can't figure out is what to do next? I have been working with FreeBSD, Linux,MySQL, Perl etc.etc. for a couple of years so that might be the way to go.
I try to get interested in Microsoft programs, they seem cool from the outside but everytime I get to see under the hood, it's so messy and doesn't appeal to the geek in me. I'd rather have no job than work with Microsoft products.
-and yes Novell are doomed, not because they don't make great products, tkey do. But I haven't found a single salesperson that can spell anything than NT and WIN2K. Hell. I have even seen many companies get a NT server with Exchange because they wanted a mail system so we sold them that, when they were running 100% Novell. We could just slap a GroupWise on their existing system.
And then there is the matter of money, we sell 4 times as many consulting hours afterwards on Microsoft systems. So we want to sell Microsoft.:-( --------
Some company replace and old netware 3.12 on a 386 with 16 mb ram with a NT box with 1gb and 4 CPUs, and they say NT is better, so much faster. Do I need to explain why.:-)

Need I say more? :-)
Oh well, Daley Thompson's Decathlon
Remember that game?
Get ready for som serious headshaking/banging.

Now that people don't have to return them, it should be time for some nice hacks. ;-)
