I thought that my 450mhz Celeron was too slow to play Counterstrike until I changed from a TNT card to Geforce with DDR-RAM. From being a bit unhappy about the speed, I now have all the power I need with up to 70fps in 1280x1024x32, and I don't see the need for upgrading.
Oh, and Q3 is running just fine too.
It means the architect in London, Geoff Cohen of RMJM, can take the sponsor, Microsoft's Bill Gates, in Seattle, on a virtual tour of the building watched by anyone who cares to join in - provided they surrender their guns at the door.
I wonder why?:-) Someone might cut the virtual tour a bit short. heh

Great, the filesystem on Linux could need some improvement. Linux are great for many things, but I have seen some nasty crashes with following filesystem errors that could be avoided with the proper disk system. I'm looking forward to yet another strong argument for using it as server. --------

Who believes that?
Try to guess what would happen when you show up to claim your stocks.
BTW. If you believe that, then I have a old tower that I want to sell to you. It's located in Paris and you can get it for cheap. I'll even ship it to you!!!
I have paid for some shareware programs from time to time. Fx. I found a webcam program that did all that I was looking for and the price was only $25. So I saved days of work and had no problem with paying $25 for that. If the price was $250, I'd had to think a lot more before pulling out my credit card.
But I don't believe that it will work if people don't have to pay to get what they want. I think the idea must be that it should be so cheap that it's not worth your time trying to get it for free.
With music, if you could buy and download it cheap from a faster server where you could find everything you were looking for, would it be worth having to search the internet for it(lets assume Naspter isn't there).

Haven't computers made computers for years? I'd hate to design the next Intel processor by hand. (Just got to thing of HGTTG, deep thought:) )
Now, I do know that the difference here is that you dont actually know how the computer got the result it did.
I think that people someday will want to be machines/computers. But that will only be because the borders will be blurred. It will not be a mechanic vs. organic choice. It will be a combination, and we will all love it. ---
This is a feature in the program that you can embed web content in your document. I have the feeling that because it is in a M$ program, it is a evil thing. Would this have been a feature if it was in Star Office on X? I could see a lot of good uses for this feature as well as bad.
It's like cookies. Cookies can be very good when programming a website that will user-friendly, but they can also be used for "evil" purposes. The only thing to do is education.
Everything these days are linked to the internet. Every program you get these days has a "Automatic Update" and depending on how paranoid you are, the feature is a way of keeping an eye on you personally. You can't enjoy the wonders of the web these days without someone is making some kind of a log somewhere. Now I am not saying that I enjoy this. I have a "personal firewall" on my PC so that I can see when a program wants to go online, since my PC is "Always On", I need this because the only way to disconnect from the internet for me is to unplug the cable from the LAN.
What people need is to be aware of what the computer is about. Clever people who sells PCs, tries to give people the impression that the PC is as "simple" as your VCR. Only few users(mostly the/. type) understand what the consequence of installing a program can be and what they need to be aware of.
These problems becomes even more scarry as progress gives the population connections like DSL connections where they will be "always on".
Hey, I agree.
Give me a troll rating if you must, but I just won't suck up.:-) I think the whole Anime thing was cool a few years ago but these days I am getting tired of watching these poorly 2-fps cartoons. The whole thing is nerd/geek-wannabe stuff now. You might as well put the same coverage into AD&D, but I hope you won't.
Reminds me of how people thinks that they can achieve total geekness on their CV just because they managed to install RedHat and can type that in.
It might be news, but it doesn't matter.
It's all well and fine with what Novell has added to NetWare lately, I just have installed a NetWare cluster for a customer, now that was a lot of fun, really.:-)
But the problem is that unless Novell manages to teach the salespersons at all the companies that "sells" Novell to spell to something else than NT, it will be dead.
Most of them are too stupid, they go for ye old "you never get fired for choosing/selecting Microsoft". I have a daily struggle trying to get them to sell NetWare too, at least to our customers who already has a old NetWare server and just wants to upgrade it.
The biggest "downside" about Novell will always be that you sell 3 times as many hours of consulting assistance to NT networks. Everyone does, I even know companies who's sales dept. were told only to sell NT because of that.

It will never be real, they'll just slap a tax on something somewhere like always.
