I don't get why people have such a hard time comprehending this:

Win 8 is Microsoft's entry into the mobile market, not the PC market, they ported it to the PC market... well to make money. They had to enter the mobile market to stay competitive, everything else was secondary.

You're right though, their taskbar and start button have become a standard for users, and take away the standard and you're going to have a long line of people complaining. Perhaps where Microsoft may have tripped up is confusing the mobile UXD with a desktop one.

On Twitter, Boston police say: "Update JFK incident appears to be fire related."

    From yours:

Davis said a third blast at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library was believed to be related to the marathon bombings, but police later said that incident was believed to be fire-related. The library said all staff and visitors are safe.

The only thing missing there is the probability of the whole thing, you're right its not 100% that the explosions were deliberate, but... the timing (during a race) and the supposed 20 second delay move the probability counter towards a bombing. Crazy enough, isn't this exactly what the movie "Four Lions" is about?

I do not use 4GB of RAM I have in my current 7 machine.

You can get by with 4gb just fine 99% of the time, but the moment you start targeting perfomance 4gb starts to quickly lack.

Here's a few places upgrading to 7 has helped me out:
Higher GB RAM support > helps me as both a dev and a gamer.
Pinnable icons > I no longer use the start menu, though I don't like the way 8 does it either.
Less compatibility issues > shit I try to avoid, they're no fun
Better driver support > personal rebuilds happen A LOT quicker w 7 than xp.

So, while you may not be able to take advantage of any of that based on your usage, many people can. The last two are a novice user's dream, which for a business translates into less support.

The ones that haven't probably don't feel they need to. That's all fine and dandy till you get down to food... the good ones focus on their food rather than advertising and I've seen good ones go out of business as a result of a lack of customer base despite their food being 10x better than the deep fried garbage they served around it. It would be just to draw business to these places, but everybody else... like mechanics, CPAs, mom n pop shops should decide for themselves what level of exposure they want. It's not like it costs money to google how to advertise your business.

This is probably the reason these services aren't what the creators envisioned in regards to yelp and groupon. Also in regards to groupon, you have to offer a deal, and from experience the good ones are established and don't negotiate pricing, only the desperate ones do.
