I am on wireless service right now. I'll tell you just why there's little market for it.
I used the service mainly because it's the only solution for faster-than-dialup internet access. I live in a town in southern oregon, and there is no competition. US West's DSL has been non-existant. Falcon (or whoever the latest company is) hasn't been rollingo out service. So basically, I live with crappy service. But then again; Do I have a choice?
I'm using it right now... Breezenet to be exact. Hits around 1.1 mbps late at night... My ISP is actually InternetCDS. The technology isn't new... people are just startin to use it because cable companies and telephone companies are both way too slow to roll out their services to us people that DON'T live in urban areas.
A method of communication with a host or server using textual based commands issued through a device known as a command prompt or from here within a "shell". They will commonly be signified with the symbols of a hash (#) or a dollar sign ($). Through all of this, an efficency far greater than a Graphical User Interface (GUI) shall be achieved.
Holy SH*T! Though it only seemed to work for me after removing the \ and putting both lines together as one... still, my jaw is on the floor at the moment.
The problem with this, however, is the fact that if you encrypt your communications as you suggest, you face a 2 year jail sentence for refusal of giving them the keys. Furthermore, you can't tell ANYONE that you have given them the keys (if you decide against a 2 year sentence). If you do, you face a 5 year jail sentence. This kind of crap literally SCARES me. If the US ever thinks of pulling that, I'm moving to sealand to work at Data Haven.
I especially enjoyed the Star fox instrumental remix. It really brought the feel of the game back without that god-awful chittering that those computer made "friends" made.
but they don't know about opennap. Even windoze users can participate using napigator. Problem solved. And if they do get smart enough to use that, there's always the ignore feature.
U.S. Bill of Rights. Article Six. (6th Amendment) The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Is this all of a sudden different JUST because it's electronic? This IS people's property, and it IS private. These people are effectively making unreasonable searches just violating constitutional rights. And people are OK with this? -MoOsE
Ok, I have been seeing numerous posts on here stating "Why are you using that old dead technology??". Well, I shall now clear the confusion. The Divx that they are thinking of is the now-defunct rentable DVD technology sponsored by Circuit City. DivX;-) mentioned in here is a hacked version of the M$ MPEG-4 codec so that it can be put in.AVI files and thus in virtually any program. It performs quite well at breaking down DVDs into files, packaged along with lower bitrate MP3 (112-128k) that usually fit on a single CD. Thank you very much for the time, MoOsEb0y
you posted this already on slashdot back in april... http://slashdot.org/articles/00/04/11/118219.shtml... don't you guys ever check whether somethings been posted?
It seems that Microsoft is taking a few leaps backward.. If they are going this to lock in more profits and prevent "piracy", then they are wrong. Most people pirate things simply because they cannot afford to pay $180 every 3 years to upgrade their OS. Hell, this computer I'm typing this comment on didn't cost that much. But anyway, people don't steal things that are cheap.. (when was the last time you saw someone steal a candybar? (I have yet to see it myself)) Anyways, Microsoft will be eventually sealing their own fate and in the end will lose to free operating systems... (See such examples as MCA by IBM and DivX DVD wannabes) I digress, so I shall end. -MoOsEb0y

How long will it be before somebody hacks/cracks/pirates this and it becomes DivX ;-) 2 or whatever?

I always filled out forms with "dfasdsafdfsfsddfsa@fdsafsadfsda.com", so whoever owns "asdfsdfafdsasda.com" will enjoy my spam.
Will it have ewoks? That'll be sure to raise popularity!
A Beowulf Cluster of these?
