    I think OP's point was, say you have 4G of non-ECC RAM. It would be neat if you could turn that into, say, 2G of "RAID RAM".

    Really? That is some good news as well. More solutions is better, esp if it helps smack nV around a bit and gets devs off CUDA+PhysX.

    PhysX is the only one that had a true hardware solution (the P1 PhysX cards, previous to nV purchase). That said, AMD has been porting Havok iirc to OpenCL for use on their hardware for fancy things like cloth mesh.

    Game Genie. They tried to sue them into the ground more than once, iirc. For something that merely redirected or altered memory contents.

    Though I've looked at the Avira page, I could not find out -- does this scanner support "real-time scanning"? With Vista+, if the AV does not have a real-time scanner, the security center will complain. I ran into this when I went from AVG to ClamWin.

    PROTIP: Prepend "cf:" to any URL in IE to load it in Chrome Frame. I tried to make an anchor but /. eats it. Here's what to slap into the address bar: "cf:http://acid3.acidtests.org".

    Exactly. What if Apple chooses this opportunity to make their ARM variant of OSX available to the general public? I know, never gonna happen, but I'd bet they're working on an A9 chip for either their tablet or a MacBook Mini (hint: rumors are that MacBook and iMac lines will see refreshes in next month or so).

    Replying to myself... whee!

    It is not a new FireWire stack, rather the "second" stack that has been experimental for a few years is no longer marked experimental. However, the maintainer still says to use the old stack for many applications.

    True, but strangely the kernel is still built as three-way ppc-i386-x86_64. All the kexts are i386-x86_64 though. So theoretically, PPC users might be able to use the Darwin 10.0.0 kernel... somehow :)

    Why should they deliver a standards compliant browser? Might as well use Gecko, KHTML or one of its forks.

    This is what I've thought too. Specifically, with all the buzz around WebKit, and its highly successful implementations, why don't they just add their Outlook extensions or whatever to a WebKit rendering engine? Because it's too close to open-source for their taste?

    The term "pre-owned" was invented by marketroids and used car salesmen to take the stigma off of the merchandise that the word "used" confers.

    BING! You hit the nail right on the head. This crap started with car dealerships first, I think in the early 90's, and it exists solely to make people feel better about buying a car that isn't new. Anyway, enough thread-jacking for me. :-)

    +5 Informative. In fact, the laptop keyboards also have a bit of flash, and Apple has updated a whole host of keyboard firmware over time.
