Wow, egg drool^H^H^Htroll, that was one of the shittiest Trolls you've ever penned. I've come to expect more from you than that.
If you hadn't called me at least one name in each paragraph, you might have gotten me to bite (but probably not). (P.S. I love the name 'turd burglar', makes me think of the McDonald's Hamburglar, only with turds)
And what the heck is a 'sizzlechest'?
Anyway, I think you need to go back and do some more Troll meditation. The Force seems to have left you.
You guys are in deep shit when the world discovers what arrogant asses you are.
Keep dreaming, fucknut. Everyone keeps talking about "someday there'll be tunzz of Linux viruses, just like Windows."
Yeah, just like Windows. My ass. It'll never be "just like Windows". Maybe someday there will be something I actually have to worry about (well, I'll never have to worry, I ssh to my own mail server and use Pine. My mail never gets to my workstaion at all, whereas all my documents are on my workstation).
Call me when there is actually a Linux virus to worry about. The heterogeny (look it up) of the Linux/Unix world prevents anything that will spread like it does with Windows.
You're just sad that you're Bill's little bitch and you have to abide by his whims and failings.
You must be a moderator, smokin' that moderator crack.
True story: My parents bought my old P75 running Win95 from me. They complained constantly about how it crashed all the time. Asked me to build 'em a new one. When I told them how much it cost, they said, "Why should we spend an extra $180 for Windows? Can't we use Linux?" (I had been telling them about Linux for a while)
I was a bit skeptical, but I figured that if they didn't like Linux, we could always go back and put Windows on.
They are currently using Debian Potato with Moz0.9.5 and Abiword (0.7.something). My dad trades stocks on Prudential and Schwab just fine. My mom types letters on Abiword just fine. They both access Hotmail just fine.
They don't do anything else but that. And they love the fact that the machine has NEVER crashed or locked up.
Oh, btw, here's the config for the box (it was built about 2 years ago):
P3-450
128mb
10gb Deskstar
16mb V550
Creative CDROM & SB Sound Card (yes, it works just fine, they listen to UofM football games over the net with Real)
I have watched as my karma on my highest rated account has bounced around
a bit and now sits at ~40. I have given some thought to why certain things
get modded up, down or not at all. Here are my conclusions:
1.) Make your post long, but not too long. 20-40 lines is usually best.
2.) Check your spelling and grammar. Check it again. Even people who
have trouble with this have an inherent understanding of when it's right,
and even more so, when it's wrong.
3.) Make sure you praise OSS/FS and it doesn't hurt to imply not-so-good
things about Microsoft. Just make sure you're not too obvious about
either one, or you'll get modded as a Troll.
4.) Don't use profanity, ever. Use only 'school words' and correct
English. Even if you have a salient point to make, you will most likely
get modded down as a Troll or Flamebait if you use profanity.
5.) This one is a little more obscure, but I've found it to be very effective: when replying to someone else's post (as opposed to replying
to the story itself), always change the subject. This causes your
post to be more noticeable than all the other posts whose subject is simply
Re: this-or-that.
6.) If you get modded down (especially if it's unfair), reply to your own
post anonymously challenging the moderation. Make sure you change the
subject to something like, "Offtopic???", then go on to point out why it's
on topic. If your original post was a good one, you will almost always
receive that point back with a positive mod.
Use these tips and you will certainly join the ranks of the highly-moderated,
+2 auto-posters. And we all know just how important it is to be a member
of that group, don't we?;)

Something's up and it's pretty weird. First you have
this article,
which shows up in the Older Stuff SlashBox, and never originally made it to the front page, but now it's been placed there, with no explanation.
Then there's
this one,
which never even made it into the SlashBox at all. Very strange, but I'm
not trying to spout any
conspiracy theory at all,
I'm just wondering what's happening.
Again, any editors want to comment? Or are you just going to ignore this request for explanation one more time?
What are you guys afraid of? Timothy? Michael? Hemos? Rob? Why can't you just say, "Gee, (this) happened with Slashcode which caused these 2 stories to get displayed incorrectly, so we're re-posting them."? When you ignore it, it makes it look like you have something to hide.

Errr, as the code is commented just above the part you pasted:
# logs attempts to break, fool, flood a particular form
That is, the people who are attempting to break, say, the comment posting form and post 500 comments at once are logged and may be banned by IP if they try hard enough.
Anyone can see, by reading Slashcode itself, not the misleading or irrelevant comments surrounding it, that the code in question does not apply to people who try to abuse the "multipost" bug (which doesn't even exist anymore; it has long since been fixed), but to people who have been moderated down with a certain frequency.
Let me spell it out for everyone since you have so little regard for the truth as to actually attempt to hide this fact:
Anyone who is moderated down four or more times within a 24-hour period will have their ENTIRE TCP/IP SUBNET banned for the following 72 hours.
That is a fact. It can be confirmed by reading the slashcode. It can further be confirmed by simply posting a comment which will be likely to garner a few negative moderations (i.e., any comment that disagrees with popluar slashdot opinions) and observing the results.
So michael, the obvious question here is, why are you lying to people? Why not just tell the thruth:
The moderation system, combined with the IP-subnet-banning system, will automatically ban people for posting anything people disagree with.
Slashdot is clearly designed with the expressed purpose of surpressing unpopular opinions within its comment system.
That is, of course, your right, as this is your website and you may do with it as you choose. However, people should know that you are lying when you claim (in the FAQ and elsewhere) that people are never banned for their opinions, only for attempts at "flooding". That is complete fiction.
What to do? Well, here is a suggestion from an AC:
What we need to do now is set up some sort of IP spoofing system so we can get huge popular subnets banned from commenting on Slashdot for 72 hour periods. There must be a dozen critical subnets that would really quieten things down here if they were regularly banned. I.e. a few important University campuses.
Get going on it, trolls. Have fun with it. Let's get some of these stuffed shirts banned for a few days and see them fume.
I'm not technically adept enough to accomplish this. Anyone want to have a go at it?
Think that up yourself?
Yer mom must be real proud!
Besides, telling a bigot to stop being racist is like telling the Pope to stop being Catholic.
Yeah, Hemos, I'm talking to you!
Take your *grin* and shove it up your ass!

Sucks to be you..........
Wow, d00d, how did you get your karma high enough to autopost at 0?
That's most piss-fucking-poor Troll I've read in a long time. Back to the drawing board, sparky.

User-friendliness is in the eye of the beholder.
I get to my hotmail account just fine with Moz0.9.5 under Linux, ya fuckstick..........
I'm getting good at this......
You guys think too fucking hard. Look at my first post in this thread. I used a much simpler method and came up with nearly the same result.
Yes, I'm proud of myself, thank you for asking.
Dude, click the fuckin' link!
*sheesh*
The comma isn't necessary, fuckstick.... (even though there is a pause there in the song)
Would that we were so lucky...
It's spelled Led Zeppelin.
Thank you
I have a 256kb/s rip of Foo Fighters/Everlong (KROQ Acoustic) that is 8mb. By that reckoning, 80gb would fit 10,000 SONGS!!
Yep, that's not much at all....

There are 2 more:
11/10/01 and 11/11/01
:)
There should be a compulsory class in all education that covers Sarcasm and Irony. It's astounding how many people just totally miss it.
They don't just misunderstand it, they don't just fail to see it when it's there, they don't even know it exists.
Pathetic.
