A reply of "None" does not necessarily mean that you do not believe in God. I for one believe in God, One God. If asked what religion or faith I practice, I would have to reply None, because I do not believe or follow any particular religious organization. Some would call me a Deist, but that category covers all who believe in one God: Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc. It is not a religion or faith, just a category.
"Namely, You are connecting to THEIR machine.
Mail server administrators block spam because they are using their resources, why can't these people claim the same? After all, you're using THEIR resources, shouldnt they have the right to send any data on a connection that YOU initiated?"
So, If I walk into a store in the mall, they are allowed to lock me in until I buy something (click a window) or prove that I have no form of payment (kill my browser)???
Also, if I initiate a connection with this site, and they have the right to send me any data, what stops them from purposefully sending me.. say.. a virus.

I run windows (I know, I should admit that here) and sites with pop-ups usually crash my system, not just my browser.
Think of it like a drivers license. Just because I have a card that is my drivers license, doesnt mean that I can just sell my card to another individual, and then that person has a drivers license. Doesnt work that way. However if I damage my card I can get it replaced for the cost of the card, not the total cost of getting a license.
A Software CD is like the card. I bought the license to use the software, and I cannot sell that license by selling the CD. I can get the CD replaced for just the cost of the CD and shipping ~$7 if it gets a scratch and doesnt work.
Cars are not like software, if it breaks down, I have purchased the right to use that car, I have purchased the car, so I cannot have it replaced when it breaks down. I may have a warranty, but that is more like insurance.
As for music and video, I am not sure if I purchased a license or the CD. If I purchased a license, then I could just get my VHS tapes replaced at the cost of the DVD, because I already have a right to the information on the DVD. Wouldnt that be great, just mail in your old VHS tapes and for ~$7 a piece you could have them all on DVD.
I agree that we must not let our civil liberties be taken away, I dont think Mr. Stallman's piece should be considered 'well said'
I have heard many slashdotters say the same things in a better manner over the past week.
If we want to keep out liberties, then we need to put together a good letter that is less emotional and more factual than continuously saying that this sort of thing is what lead to the vietnam war.

While it is great that they lasted as long as they did, it is still important to ask why they fell. Do not ask it in shock or disgust, but out of curiosity. If we can determine what parts of the building gave out, we can build them better next time. It is the question of why buildings fall down that has allowed us to build skyscrapers in california that can withstand earthquakes.

While I do agree that we have fueled the fire in the middle east through the sale of arms. We have also helped out many of those countries in their times of need. In doing this we gained allies in the middle east, the unfortunate part is that we also gained their enemies.
A rethinking of our foreign policies is in order, but we must not neglect our allies, or all we will have left are enemies. A rethinking should occurr after we are free from current dangers.
The attack on us is such an outrage because of the number of innocent lives that were lost in one blow. This attack cannot be overlooked and will not be repaired through policies.
Britain and France tried to appease Hitler before the beginning of WWII, but a year later he forcibly took Poland. By then he had become a strong foe and would not be easily defeated. We must not repeat history, or the future will be twice as bloody. This war needs to be won now, before another strike occurrs. Before we are crippled by terror.

What about when you are forced to be the false authority. Because I am a developper, my family seems to think I know everything about computers, so when they have a problem they ask me. My aunt is always me why her printer doesnt work. I'll tell her I dont know, but she keeps asking. After a while, I give in and tell her some BS and to reload the print drivers. Of course reloading the print drivers usually works, so she thinks I knew what I was was talking about. A month later she calls again, and the cycle conitnues.
On another note, it seems like the original article completely ignores the fact that the media is in the business of making money and telling people that a virus wont completely destroy their lives just doesnt make money.

NASA has had so much trouble getting stuff TO Mars, and now they think they can get a craft there AND back.
It's probably the only way they could get funding after there last two blunders with Mars.

I probably shouldn't be so mean, but, whatever.
