I was extremely patient with Netscape and did my share of bug reporting for the mac version of mozilla. But what the fuck, they've had 3 years, and I need a viable browser now, not one that's been promised to me for years. I've converted to IE/OE, and I've crashed about 5 times. Thats about how many times I'd crash with mozilla in an hour.
Secondly, who gets the spoils? Most users already have the spoils, its called internet explorer. Most of the "new" features that you zealots cry about have already been implemented perfectly in IE.
Thirdly, you seriously think netscape is going to regain any market share with mozilla? Why would a regular desktop user wait 60 minutes to download something they already have on their comps with IE? They all trample Mozilla because of it's crash-ridden design, it's poorly written bloat "features", and it's memory hogging and memory clogging. Actually, IE & OE were released for the Mac about 5 months after the windows version. Furthermore, IE 5 is great and actually LOOKS like a Mac application. OE is also very well done and both crash RARELY.

Then when I tried to view a Quicktime movie, even though I had the quicktime plugin installed, would give me "can not find a match for mime type MOV" and it would let me select an app to choose for it. Then when I tried to uh, select an app for the mime type, I would get, FUNCTION NOT YET IMPLEMENTED. That was just great. It was m16 too. WTF is that? Even amongest the most loyal of the Mac zealots, the entire crowd has almost all converted to the IE/OE combination. Then whoever loses that, will appeal, and it'll go to the national Supreme Court. Then the Supreme Court will decide, but by then (it'll be a good 3-4 years) Napster will be irrelevant because everyone will have moved on to a better service. The Napster case is not landmark, nor will its impact really effect the trade of MP3's on the net, and furthermore, anything else like VCD's or software, because there will always be services that allow us to trade whatever we want anonymously. These cases only force us to be more discrete and more vigilant in designing software that doesn't allow one person/company/business to be placed for blame for copyright infringement and piracy.
