It sucked because you had to virtually 'walk' to each location, which was totally unnecessary. How about those 3D window managers?
I totally agree. I don't think we'll see a real 3D environment get adopted until we overcome mouse-and-keyboard input. It'll be awhile until we can jam controller chips into our frontal lobes, but maybe good VR gloves would be a first step?

Could you possibly point me to a scale of these CMM levels? I've read about that "code shop maturity" level stuff before, but I remember the sponsoring university's website being really, really confusing. Is there a basic FAQ or something I could look at?
I personally believe MORE web applications should be done using Flash, or better yet, a non-proprietary scalable vector solution. Think about it. With online stores, bulletin boards, databases, etc, etc, we've pretty much beaten the "page" metaphor into the dust. I'd rather let documents be documents (in XHTML/XML, with nice friendly metadata), and let applications be done with the vector graphics.
In a lot of the database-driven apps I've done, I find the page-to-page paradigm (did I just say that?) really breaks down, and I'd rather just use a Flash interface to keep things consistent.
I point to.NET as an ugly example of trying to further mutilate "documents" into "applications". Let each do their thing, seperately.
Someone's already working on it, but their site hasn't been updated since March. I tried it once, I guess I'm not enough of a Nethack fan to appreciate it.
I think I've read a quote from you that says the strangest thing you've ever made was yogurt from your wife's breast milk. If this is true, I think I'd like to hear the story of how you came up with this idea...
The same goes for the syntax. All the switching between $, @ and % is really irritating (ask a newbie how to get at a hash inside a hash, for example), and the changes proposed for 6 are just making this worse.
Have you looked at any of Larry's Apocalypses? The sigil-switching is going away in Perl 6. A hash -within-a-has will be accessed like: %hash{value}{value}. As it should be:)
We all know that the moves that are put on the mat in WWF are scripted and mostly stunts (still dangerous, but definitely not skill)
Actually, anyone who's more than a casual fan would tell you that the majority of American matches are improvised on the spot, with only the finishing sequence and important spots pre-planned.
As for skill, wrestlers must be in good condition and practice long, hard hours at their work to make any sort of impact. It takes a lot of training to learn how to fall and flip correctly. Try visiting a wrestling training school if you don't believe me. I've been through it, it hurts, a lot.
the stadium looked like a large-scale high school or small-town college stadium
The San Francisco Demons play in Pac Bell Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, a Major League Baseball team. I would hardly say that it qualifies as a "high school stadium."
Based on these points, I believe you are unfairly judging the XFL using sketchy evidence based partly on your stereotypical opinions of professional wrestling and Vince McMahon. Mr. McMahon simply took some aspects from that worked from one product, and applied them to another. It's ridiculous to use that as a reason to compare one to the other.
If you wish to argue that XFL isn't really a sport, compare it to the NFL or other professional football leagues. Once again, pro wrestling is entirely its own animal, and can't be used as a fair comparison.
As far as I know, the XFL has shows on three, count 'em, three networks: NBC, UPN, and TNN. I believe one of next weekend's games will be on TNN.
More TLD's are just more money for registars

Introducing more TLD's just means companies have to register every other TLD so nobody else does. When the Internet blows up and we have to start it over, we should make second-level domains unique. If you get slashdot.org, nobody can get slashdot.whatever.

Asheron's Call used to have a hidden Pong game. I haven't played in a long while though, so I couldn't say if it's still in there.
And if someone gets Diablo II to run Diablo I, I'm sold.
