Unfortunately, my first thought was how this will be abused by commercials as well. And you thought it was bad when they were just too loud.
I wonder how many of those scent concentrates are safe? Lots of things are OK in small quantities, but over time not so much. Also, people will start to associate the artificial TV-scent (and we'll need an acronym for it that doesn't involve "HD") with things more than the actual real-world smells.
For all the data it collects, does it do full spectrum or just 3 colors of light? Polarization after the fact? I wonder how long this will be "at least a year away."
If it is the real, I can think of lots of scientific applications more useful than a consumer camera.
Not exactly the same situation. If you pay the "ransom" on the internet, you are still just as vulnerable as before. That is like they get to keep the hostage, and other people can also charge ransom not to kill the hostage, at the same time.
As long as pirating pays off, pirates will hold people for ransom.
When they see that is not profitable, you think they will kidnap people and kill them just for the fun of it? The principle of the thing?
Individuals are easy to declare war on. Victory is also easy to determine.
We really screwed ourselves when we declared war on Cancer, Poverty, Drugs, and AIDS though....
Those copies/backups are what the FBI likes to call "more evidence."
They like to get all the evidence they know about the existence of. Anything less weakens the case.
but... your information could have been anywhere in that machine. we saw the wires connecting it to other machines. Just be glad they didn't seize the whole internet as evidence.
Seriously, though - I imagine that whole "off-site backups" plan won't be effective much with they are seized too, along with your IP phones for thoroughness.
Some of their articles have come true - such as when they announced airlines would begin charging for 1st checked bags, it happened shortly after.
If anything, The Onion has made people more aware of the news simply by mocking it. Compared to the press-release journalism most news outlets use, it is actually quite the writing accomplishment.
Apparently we are trying to make people forget what cash was, by giving them so many new options. And the bank/card company and now phone company will be getting a cut every time you buy a donut - plus probably selling the information to data collectors or anyone interested.

I think all those gay marriage opponents ought to uphold the sanctity of marriage by banning divorce, and having to stick with their first wife.

And that money was probably rolled back into the "company", hiring more thugs to demand more "protection money" from an even bigger neighborhood.

Yes. They changed the I to an O. Binary and all that.
The usual procedure is to seize the suspect servers and everything connected to it...
"Good God, Agent Smith, this thing is connected to the Internet"
"I'll call in a second truck."
Or maybe shutting down a phone company every time they go in to get some records they have a warrant for.

I don't think you understand how reservations work.

the ultimate defence weapon.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Wow, 20 years went by fast. What will the next 20 bring?
but if it is that new, is it really a meme yet?
Just uncheck "disasters" until you get bored with the game.
And if he ends any, he'll outscore Bush in that category, too.

How do we know the denial is legit? Maybe the announcement of the hack was correct.
So you mean I shouldn't have tried running my garden house into The Cloud?
Will he be tortured by Sauron, then sent to find it?
How many of those people had multiple identities? How many of those people were "closed" temporarily?
You probably need a different plug-in :-)
Hardware upgrade. Works just fine on some monitors.
