LulzSec Debunks UK Census Hack
Earlier this morning we reported that an arrest had been made relating to the hacker group LulzSec.
mask.of.sanity notes "Hacking group LulzSec has poured cloud water on claims that it had stolen UK Census data and was preparing to release the records. 'Just saw the pastebin of the UK census hack. That wasn't us — don't believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first,' the group said from its official Twitter account."
News at noon !!
So after they put out a Tweet, do believe fake LulzSec releases.
cloud water?
How can you prove who you are when you're anonymous? Well, I guess there's always a public key.
Use a public key, you dorks.
As opposed to virtual water or iWater or eWater?
How do we know anyone is speaking for the real LulzSec?
let's see some ID
A feeling of having made the same mistake before: Deja Foobar
Or denies? Because there's a big difference between the two, and I believe it's the latter.
Isn't it cold water? To pour cold water on something, to debunk it.
Cloud water is rain.
...I think I've had that
no matter how good your friends are, don't share your water bottle
Someone should set up a betting pool on how long it will be before some other group hacks Twitter to gain access to LulzSec's account to post tweets.
Dear submitters,
If you don't know what a specific word or figure of speech means, OR how it's spelled, DON'T use it. I beg of you.
To loosely quote Stewie, "Anyone caught using the terms 'irregardless,' 'a whole nother,' or 'all of the sudden' will be put in work camps.”
.. considering how such authorities make stuff up so to fabricate an enemy... you'd think they would better understand how foolish they appear at taking down one or a few people. i.e. Orlando Florida keeps arresting people for feeding the homeless... so haven't that gotten the ring leader yet?
Can't tell if trolling or just very stupid.
Sounds like a denial, not a debunking.
This twitter account has been hacked by LulzSec. Believe it.
Perhaps the arrest by the UK police earlier has put some fear in to them so they are now trying to act like they haven't hacked the UK census in a desparate attempt to fend off the police.
"Your honor, I didn't do the crime. I would have tweeted about it. Just like I did for all my other crimes. See?"
These stories have coincided on the same day. There's been no indication that the kid was arrested because of any allegation about the census. As the editor would have known if he had, say, checked BBC News first.
Weren't we told that this was being managed by a highly secure, terribly efficient American corporation, and there was absolutely no danger of our personal data being hacked into and released on the internet?
Korma: Good
LulzSec's supposed claim to be in possession of all records from the UK Census falls a bit flat regardless of any later claims and counterclaims given that a) Lockheed Martin haven't finished processing all the records yet and b) they're not the only company doing data capture....
I'd say you're just very stupid.
After all, they are such upright lads!
News organizations are failing at due diligence these days. Gotta keep feeding those profit margins, no time for fact-checking, no calling up the UK census and asking about a breach. Nope, just release whatever you read on a random pastebin and fire away!
This is why I get breaking news from Twitter feeds. The journalism quality is just as good (or bad).
please disregard
Speaking as an American, sorry, but there aren't any of those. We have quite a few highly secure and terribly efficient organizations, but they aren't corporations. They are privately owned enterprises, mostly family operations or small rural businesses.
Riiiiight. Did it occur to your government to look at recent history? Or did they give up paying attention after 1965?
LulzSec can debunk anything they want, since the public doesn't know who they are. They all get arrested but one, that one person sends out a press release saying "lol no we didn't" and the internet is so stupid they eat up whatever these terrorists say.
"Anonymity is your name... You are no longer part of the system. You are above the system, over it, beyond it. We're 'them'. We're 'they'. We are the Men in Black."
* Absolutely!
Take it from me, lol, an "AnoNyMoUs-CoWaRd"!
( & based the above quotation from the film MEN IN BLACK!
APK
P.S.=> In fact, a few folks here found that out this week (damn_registrars) in regards to myself, lmao...
However, on the note of LuLzSeC & more seriously (whoever they may be?):
Hey - They're not "All that Bad" & I think they're actually more into "shaming targets into a fix" instead of they being "lackadaisical" about it for 1 thing, &/or EVEN OFFERING TO TAKE ON OTHER HACKER/CRACKER TYPES:
http://yro.slashdot.org/story/11/06/19/1946203/LulzSec-Offers-to-Take-Revenge-On-Sega-Hackers
And, for another, & helping again, rather than just offering to as they have above?
WELL - They DID help out NHS (instead of taking advantage of them, as the COULD have, were they truly "bogus", especially w/ a slew of admin level pwd's they had):

"Good"/"Bad"?
Hey - There are NO absolutes, & imo @ least? It's sort of DANGEROUS to speak in those terms (binary thinking)!
I mean really!
Much is "shades of grey" (lol, or is it GRAY)
&
ALL A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE, & IN ADDITION TO WHO'S DOING THE JUDGING ALSO, of said qualities (diametrically opposed ones no less the 2 sides to every coin...)!
( & there isn't a judge/man who isn't also "victim to skewed view" or sin-free, ala Jung's "The Duality of Man").
...apk
All it takes would be the govt seizing their Twitter account and then the govt could prevent they're the lulz (if they're not already).
Are their tweets redirecting to cryptographically signed message from Lulzec using a private key or are they really that stupid to use a Tweeter account that could be seized by the govt at any time?
