Goodbye Kazaa. If the spyware scheme didn't kill you, infecting all of users with viruses isn't going to help. I don't think you could PAY someone to use Kazaa after all of this crap.
If you don't like the bias here, it's simple, go somewhere else. Slashdot has always had an anti-corporate stance, so if you like being a whore, why don't you visit imacorprateshill.com instead, fatboy?
By owning com.com, Cnet Networks gets to monitor every request made by everyone who accidentally types whatever.com.com. (I don't know about you guys, but I do that all the damn time.) Not only can they tell where you wanted to go, but they can pick things up like your browser version, OS, and IP, too! Seems like a good way to gain some market data.
Wow, finally a legal precident in this grey area of the law. Now any company (and I've seen many of these messageboard libel cases lately) that wants to bring a case like this to court already has legal history against it. Fuckedcompany.com must be happy to hear about this, as they had the same kind of court case brought against them.
Looks like we've got a MS troll in our midsts. I wont bother refuting all the miles of bullshit this second-rate Bill Gates Cabana Boy has spewed out here, suffice it to say it aint worth my time. Just know that supporting the Evil Ones wont make you a general when the New World Order comes. You'll get screwed by Microsoft in the end just like everyone else, in one way or another. Now I think It's time for you to put another dollup of oil on BG's back, HOP TO IT BOY!
I'm totally sold on the Athlon 1.2 gig 760 DDR chipset setup, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to find one anywhere any time soon. You have to buy new PC2100 DDR RAM, an AMD 760 chipset Mobo, and a DDR complient version of the Athlon 1.2ghz chip (I think, I could be wrong about this.)
Anyone know where all this new equipment is being sold?
VinylVideo has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. Interesting at first, but when you realise they want you to spend $2,000 on the player and up to $12,000 (!!!!) on the picture disks. Whatever guys, This thing can probably be made for $99 with spare parts, and I'm not even going to comment on the picture disks (12,000 dollars for a fucking ALBUM? COME ON!!) This thing could have been a fun campy thing to show your friends, until these guys got fucking greedy.
I think they could have made it simpler by having the watermark simply be Vincent Price's voice moaning over every track so "protected," or some juicy backwards masking, and been done with it.
That wouldn't work with the song Thriller, it already has Vincent Price Moaning in the background.:)
Those of you who have seen 'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels' (It's actually mentioned in the article) may have noticed the way guns are used in the movie. That is to say, nobody in that whole film knew what the hell they were doing with a gun because they are illegal in the UK and no one is trained to use them. So what you have is gangsters slaughtering each other caused by ignorance of gun safety. I had never shot a gun in my life until two years ago, but the first time I picked one up for target practice I was dead on, and I attribute that to playing FPSs for hours at a time. These violent games may not do good by teaching kids how to handle guns, (considering they teach you shoot everyone in sight with them) but they at least get you accustomed to them. Ignorance is worse than knowledge. Not knowing what a gun can do to you or someone else is a most dangerous thing to a 10 year old.
Just an idea, I'm not a member of the NRA or anything.:)
Just because you've never seen or heard of a programmer using drugs means that they don't exist right? hahaha
You've never seen or heard of them because you don't do drugs. I work in the IT field, I smoke weed. Do I talk about my smoking habit with people who don't smoke? HELL NO! That's why you don't know. I bet most of the people you work with go home and smoke it up, but they aint about to tell you about it. It's quite an exclusive club.
Are you experienced?

You sound like the guys from DARE that used to come to my school and endlessly talk about how bad drugs were, without giving any examples of what they will do to you other than "They make you stupid". Weed doesn't make you stupid, just stoned and hungry.:) And anyone who's taken speed can tell you that it does anything BUT slow you down.
People who have never done any drugs have no right to badmouth them or anyone who takes them. You don't know... You're ignorant, so keep your uniformed opinions to yourself until you can say you've had enough experience to judge for yourself.

Is this a repost? I seem to recall seeing this topic posted a few weeks ago. Maybe it was something different...
Seemed to me like an advocation of 802.11a more than an argument against this RF lighting thing.
:)
Conspiracies? Sure I have a few.
There should be no alternative, keep your laws off my internet.

Futurama is cool and all, but I'd rather watch the 'Fear Factor with Hentai Anime' thing.

Fucking pseudo-intellectual snobs...

Beat you all to it
Sorry, but Civ3 needs DirectX 8a, and since wine only emulates up to version 7, I don't think it will work.
